Dagger is a Trivator warrior. He is known for his dark and dangerous edge, making him the perfect warrior for impossible missions. He fears nothing, until he meets a young, delicate human female who wakens his heart. Her gentle touch, soft voice, and her shy sense of humor touch him in a way he never thought could happen. The thought of anything harming something so beautiful and fragile fills him with terror.
Jordan Sampson is slowly adjusting to her new life on a strange planet far away from war-torn Earth. She had been 17 when she was brought to the Trivator's home world of Rathon along with her older sister, Jesse, and younger sister, Taylor, a couple years earlier. Fear, confusion, and uncertainty of what the future holds threaten to drown her as she tries to fit in. There is only one hope that keeps her going. It is the handsome alien male that stirs something deep inside her and makes her feel whole.
When Dagger is captured during a mission and sold to the illegal fight rings, it is only the memory of Jordan that keeps him going. Time blurs as he slowly sinks deeper and deeper into a world of violence and pain until he becomes more animal than Trivator.
Jordan knows Dagger is out there, somewhere. She can feel him in her heart. The heart she gave to him the first time he held her protectively in his arms.
When she discovers where he is being held, she refuses to let anything stop her from rescuing him. What Jordan doesn't realize is that she has been Dagger's hope during his captivity. The one thing that holds the thin thread to his sanity.
The fight to save Dagger takes Jordan on a journey that she hopes they both survive. The star system is a dangerous place for a young human female and a damaged Trivator warrior. Can Jordan reach Dagger in time, and if she does, can she heal his shattered soul?

Writer, reader, now an avid listener, why hadn't I discovered this before!
This was a much better story and I kinda wish this one had come before the second book. Don't know why, but it felt more realistic and that Dagger and Jordan's life should have been first. I guess I can see why the author did it this way, and although I did like some of the tie ins' I did also find them a little repetitive. I guess if I'd been waiting for each book's release this might not have been the case, but, back to back I found sections that I wanted to skip because I'd just listened to it.
The horrid realisation of what Dagger's actually been through and what Jordan has done to try and save him and to actually rescue him was heartbreaking.
I also really enjoyed the 'French guys' but wonder if this was a tie in to another story? I'm going to have to look around and see if SE Smith has anything with time travel in :)
I won't spoil the ending either but omg I was on the edge of my seat! Wonderfully done. Both by the narrator and writer :) Excellent wrap-up.
On to the last :( sigh. Hope there are some more series I can pick up.
Overall good narration but the story was 2 dimensional. Not very much world or character building. Even the relationship between the 2 main characters was seriously lacking. I was tempted to give up but it was quite short so persevered. Bit of a waste of a credit.
I listened to this in one sitting. The narrator was very good. This is a light read/listen. I do recommend you listen/read to the stories in order for the best experience but you don't need to.
"Fantastic ~ Loved Dagger and Jordan's Story!"
Dagger and Jordan's story was great! In some ways, it was refreshingly different, because it was not the usual tension between the H/h where one of them is not willing to admit or give in to their feelings for the other. From the beginning, Dagger and Jordan knew they had feelings for each other, and would eventually be together. During the time Dagger was missing, Jordan never gave up hope, and knew in her heart he would be found. After he was rescued, they came together and worked as a team.
While Dagger and Jordan were marooned on a remote planet, another spaceship called the Crystal landed with three Frenchman, one who was a half robot named Jarmen D`ju. Not sure where these characters actually came from, but thought they were funny. It also peaked my curiosity to see if they are actually apart of other series by S.E. Smith's. So, now I will definitely have to listen to her other series, just to see if these characters appear in one of them or if this was just odd encounter with them.
As usual, the narration is fantastic. David Brenin always delivers a five star performance.
"Dagger and Jordon's story WOW!!!"
The way the author weaves what you learned in book two into Dagger's Hope there are parts of the previous story that you see from Jordon's perspective now. I love that although Jordon's character seems mild and fragile she is more than able to take care of those she loves it the quite one's you really have to look out for!
I gotta say I loved the resolution of Kessin ( not sure on that spelling ) aka the bad guy. You see it coming yet don't quite see the whole design until it's over but how perfectly fitting an ending for him I think I cheered!!
Well.I have listened to the first two book's in this series which he also performed and as always he does a spectacular job you feel the personality and emotion in each character as he brings them to life .
When Jordon first gets into the fight arena and sees what hell Dagger has been living in and at the same time Dagger believes he's seen Jordon but then he thinks his mind has snapped I cried for Jordon to be so close yet unable to help and Dagger struggle to hang on if only to kill those that are running the H***Hole his prison.
Again an excellent story both in the story itself and the performance but be sure to start at the beginning with Hunter 's Claim because the way these stories weave together is magical.....
"Love this series!! I can't get enough..."
This story had me on the edge of my seat and sucked me in word for word! The emotions between Dagger and Jordan are so moving that at one point I felt my own heart hurt. I won't say at what point because it may be different for everyone, but I will say for me it was toward the beginning on the planet where Dagger was a fighter and Jordan found him after so many years of searching for him. From that point I couldn't stop listening, laughing and loving their story more and more. Can't wait the listen to the next...my only disappointment it that the stories can't go on and on...leaves you wondering what happened next for them.
"Loving the Series"
I took a long to read the serious and I can't wait for the next one
"Love this series. 5 Stars"
I love these Heros, they are so loyal and loving and touch all at the same time. I can't wait to listen to Saber story!
"Dagger and Jordan. Yawn"
Turned off by S.E. Smith for sure. Silly dialogue, this book is just totally unbelievably ridiculous.
Slow painfully boring narration. Had to speed up on my iPod, and narrator still butchered the women's voices.
Listened to the first book and it was OK, and read the reviews for this book and so many were good that I thought I would try a second book. So much filler at the beginning of the book I couldn't believe how boring and uninteresting it was. Makes me question the positive reviews, done with this author.
"great 3rd book in a good series"
great Narrator who gives life to the story. This was a very well written story
Love the story, the only problem I have is why don't they have a woman read the women part and visa versa. It would make the story more enjoyable.
"Just take me out of my misery, please."
No one looking for a romance novel.
No, this book was not focused on this genre. It's more of a sci-fi novel with too many flash back and no chemistry between the main characters.
The narrator did this best he could with such a horrible story line.
The first half of the book, and needless wordy materials which are annoyingly obvious.
This was very boring. I wish that I could get my credit back.
"Book 3, The Alliance, yes"
This book turned out better than I expected for Dagger & sister #2 Jordan. If you've read SESmith's Kassis series, you'll get a kick out of the cameo appearance by the Frenchmen, the robots & the mystery friend Jarman. Happy to have bought the Kindle book with audio.
