Publisher's Summary

Clam jam. Definition: the female equivalent of a cock block. Example: You're chatting with a guy you're interested in, and your friend comes along and lays claim to him.

Maggie: That's my life - except it's worse. My friend who keeps "jamming" me is my gay roommate.

Fact: He went home with three - yes, three - of the guys I had been so sure were into me.

Fact: He's really pissing me off. I'll never manage to get a boyfriend before the age of 50 if he keeps this up.

Fact: Secretly, I wonder what it would be like if he weren't gay. Why do all the hot, sweet, tender-hearted guys have to be gay?

Ry: The day I interviewed for the room to rent, everything changed. I knew I had met the girl, except there was one small problem: She'd been burned badly and didn't want to deal with a heterosexual guy as a roommate. I could've found another place to live, but I wanted to live there - with her. So I had to go undercover.

Fact: I'm in love with my roommate.

Fact: She's going to hate me if I come clean now.

Fact: I'm not giving up. Which means I'll just have to continue to run defense until I figure out a way to get Maggie to see the real me.

Contains mature themes.

    "So f%#&ing funny!!!"

Such an original, creative story and I learned an awesome new phrase! Really loved the male narrator - the female narrator was good, but occasionally she got a little too whiny. Couldn't put it down. Was worried it would be offensive or insensitive to LGBT - meaning you can make anyone straight - but it wasn't and was hilarious. Would've been way more funny if the author had made some scenes with the gay guys instead of it being told in the past. Also I really wish the author had made Rye kiss Jack - I kinda added that scene in my head myself - and it was FUNNY!

    "Tangents"

Maggie's inner dialog tends to be too long winded. That was annoying!
Also it's taking to long to get to the good stuff..

My other issue with this book is Jack giving out his friends address... who does that?

    "Good potential not more"

The book have so much potential and the start of it was promising but.... form the middle of the book it was repetitive, exhausting, and all I could think was how what the hell is there to tell in 1-2-3-4 hours ... (and not surprisingly there wasn't....)

"Romantic story that dragged on way too long"

I love comedic romance but the plot was weak and ran on waaaaaaay to long. Boredom set in. It had great potential but got lost in a story line that should have ended 4 hours earlier.

"Such a great idea .... so boring!"

This had such potential! The idea behind it could have made this be a laugh out loud love story. But it is NOT. Right from the start they pine for each other and it is just ridiculous. Jeremy York is probably really awesome in serious sad novels, in this.... he just sounded so bored and well sad. No comedic timing.
The gal reading really tried. But she could not bring much as the story fell flat.

    Story
    "Way Too Long"
    Any additional comments?

Have you ever watched a TV sitcom that starts with a funny concept but the concept only holds up for a few episodes? After that -- barring a spectacular performance like Tom Hanks in "Bosom Buddies" -- it just fizzles out. This novel has exactly the same problem.

This should've been a 3-hour novella. It would've been amusing and enjoyable. But the author dragged it out into a full-length novel and the repetition became unbearable. About 1/3 of the way through I seriously wondered how the author could keep it interesting. She didn't. She just kept using the same scenarios over and over.

Elizabeth Hart did a fine job with her part of the narration. It had to be difficult to narrate such a clueless character and make her still sound smart and funny.

I was really disappointed with Jeremy York. He kept his voice so well modulated that he ended up sounding bland.... and occasionally creepy. I had no sympathy for the character of Rye and I suspect part of it was the narration and part was the weak writing.

Don't waste a credit on this one.

    "Done in two days!!!"

It was finished in 2 days. I couldn't wait to hear the outcome. I did feel like Maggie was being a little "blonde" about Ry but I didn't get annoyed. If your like cute love stories and "short" in my opinion then you'll want to listen to this one!

    "Can you say...ridiculous!"

I love romance novels. It's my genre. So, I've come across some unrealistic plotlines before. This however was absolutely ridiculous. My problem is with how long this charade goes on. Its well over a year! No woman is this stupid! This book should have been at least 3 hrs shorter. I kept listening, thinking surely there's more to this story. Nope....just the same thing over and over and over! The saving grace was the decent narration.
