New York Times and USA Today best-selling author S.E. Smith presents another action-, adventure-, and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.
Riley St. Claire has always followed her own rules. When she discovers her current employer is not as law-abiding as she thought, she has to leave town in a hurry...or end up buried with the dead guy she discovered. She doesn't expect to be picked up by a passing trader from another world.
As the ruling king of Sarafin, Vox d'Rojah is expected to produce a son who will be joined in marriage with the first-born daughter of the king of Valdier. But Vox has no intentions of having any sons, at least not in the near future. He's quite happy with the wide selection of females at his disposal. When Vox is captured by a ruthless Valdier royal and sold to a mining operation, the last thing he expects to find is his bride mate.
Vox isn't sure which would be easier: fighting another war with the Valdier or capturing and holding on to the human female who's unlike anyone he has ever encountered. Now he must escape back to his world while fighting pirates, traders - and Riley!
The king of Sarafin has met his match in Ms. Riley St. Claire from Earth. Now he just needs to figure out a way to let her know he has chosen her as his queen - and he has every intention of keeping her by his side forever.

Quite possibly or even probably.
The female lead is to annoying for words, by pure luck she does not get everyone killed and seems to find that perfectly alright. Everyone around her seems incompetent and everything miraculously goes her way. I tried a few times to continue with the book but in the end I could not finish it.
"A Must Listen For S.E. Smith's Fans!"
S.E. Smith has become one of my go to authors for Sci-Fi romances. Her stories always have a great mix of action, humor and steamy romance, and are very entertaining to listen too. I love Smith's The Dragon Lords of Valdier, Sarafin Warriors, and Curizan Warriors are three series that are intertwined and have events that have taken place simultaneously but from a different POV's; as a result, I'm listening to these series in event order rather than straight series order. It adds more depth to the amazing world Smith has created and Choosing Riley was a great addition to this world building. One thing I've come to expect from a Smith story is a funny dialogue, steamy sex scenes, strong female characters and of course dominate alpha male characters.
In my opinion, for any well developed series to succeed there must be a wide cast of characters with distinct personalities, and Smith definitely delivers with interesting characters; however, I have to be honest, Riley, the lead female character was one of my least favorites so far. Her heart was in the right place, but her dialogue, and clueless actions at times came across as childish. Don't get me wrong, Riley had me laughing but she also had me rolling my eyes.
David Brenin always delivers a stellar performance and does a excellent job with both the female and male characters.
While Riley could be annoying at times, this was still an entertaining story and well worth the time and credit. I'm looking forward to listening to the next story in the series.
"Overdone and unrealistic"
I think the female character was dumb. The author continually had the female character expecting the male to behave like a human man. How the hell is he suppose to know what a damn wedding is? Just stupid as heck. The story line, the female's behavior, ALL OF IT.... STUPID! I am NOT impressed 😒.
"Love me some alpha Sarafin worriers"
This series gets better and better. Watch out Sarafin Warriors!!! her comes Riley with all her sassiness and her witty tongue and a bag full of tricks, Making her alpha worrier look like a poor crazy about to loose his mind pussycat with all her antics. You will find your self laughing out loud and blushing at the sex scenes. Can't wait for the nex book. Narrator was awesome
"Riley: Really how stupid can u be?"
This Riley person is so head strong she is stupid, I could hardly finish the book, I wanted to kill her myself. Come on S. E. smith!! Not your best work. Narrative is terrible at the female voice, terrible!! All the Sarafin Warriors, and the idea of this world is right on, loved Vok. Just why did Riley have to be some back water stupid bitch? Want my money back.
"a bit juvenile"
I struggled to finish this one. I had no patience with the histrionics. may be someone else's preference.
Loved this spinoff, I can't remember the last time I laughed so much while reading. Love Riley's gumchen, and humor. Good read well worth the credit.
Absolutely love it.
I have listened to it 4 times now and I laugh just as hard as I did the first time.
