To be invited to Prom Night by Tommy Ross is a dream come true for Carrie – the first step towards social acceptance by high school colleagues. Good story, but not so horrifying

I had quite high expectations for this book, that's probably why I was a little disappointed. The story is, without a doubt, original and a bit addictive, but it didn't give me the chills. I hoped for a good old horror story, but it was more a description of a tragedy with quotes from different books about telekinesis.
But don't get me wrong, it was worth the listen! I love King, but it wasn't as horrifying as some of his other stories.

Worth a read but!!!

I would recommend other King books such as 'Shining' because this story is a bit too basic and there aren't really any high stakes or but Stephen King makes up for this with amazing characters and makes you feel like you are a student or a journalist inside this High School. The narrator was great and a perfect voice and brings a good vibe to the story

much better than the movies

I'm a real lover of the writings of Stephen king. this is a good read but a little confusing to begin with until you realise that the reader is reading extracts from different books based on the event of carrie, along with the actually story. the jump back and forth becomes quiet smooth though as the story progresses. this is not a scary story but very well written and even though it is one of his first books it still stands the test of time. king is not afraid to speak of topics that others might shy away from and it lends strength to his writing.

Much better than the film.

Where does Carrie rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top five out of all audiobook listened to so far.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Carrie herself. trapped in the body of an adolescent girl, tortured by her estranged mother and school friends who as we all know can be horrible in themselves.

What does Sissy Spacek bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Excellent choice of narrator. Sissy brought out all the feeling behind the characters portrayed in the book. Obviously seeing Sissy as Carrie in the film helped however Sissy brought to the book a professionalism that was believable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The point where Carrie prepares for the Prom attends the dance and naturally fits in until the events that brought forward the catastrophe.

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth listening to this book. The story brings to the reader the tale of a young girl persecuted for the way she was brought up through no fault of her own and then takes matters into her own hands in a devastating manner.

WOW

Double U. Oh. Double U. if you watched the film and thought it was lacking, then read the author critique and thought "maybe the book was better", then you were right my friend. Listen now. You will not be disappointed. Maybe shocked, but certainly not disappointed.

Still a good story

After 50 years give or take this is still a good story and where it all began. with that in mind it has to be worthy of a listen.
