Publisher's Summary

A rare and powerful witch whose blood is lethal to vampires, Leila has always viewed her serryn abilities as a curse. After seeing her mother slaughtered as a child, Leila longs for a safe, quiet life. That wish is shattered by Caleb Dehain - a vampire with a dark past and a darker heart. The most feared serryn hunter of his generation, Caleb now needs the help of one of the witches he despises to save his dying brother. Caleb and Leila are each other's worst nightmare - but the slow-burning spark of attraction between them is undeniable. Will Leila's blood be his damnation? Or could her kiss be his salvation?

Contains mature themes.

"Not as Good as 1st Book"

I don't know what all the hype is about this book. I think the H was a jerk. He totally had no honor and didn't keep any of his promises to let the heroine return home after she cured his brother. His reasons for keeping her were totally selfish, and he treated her badly. Whenever she would fight back, he would call her deceitful and continue to keep her prisoner, despite the fact he was keeping secrets himself.
The plot was interesting and I can see how it will tie in with the next book in the series, but the H in this one is a lose, lose for me. I didn't find him likeable at all. To be honest, I can't imagine the heroine being in love with him, not after knowing him for all of two days. He was her first lover, I believe she is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

Great follow up to the first book - can not wait to see how this series will go! also from what I understand these characters stories are continuing so we dont get the HEA now but in later books. Very good read though.

"Excellent book just keeps getting better!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Blood Roses to be better than the print version?

I haven't read books yet. Unfortunately audio does not have book 3 and 4 yet I can't wait so I will have to purchase books to read. Wish audible has all four books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Blood Roses?

As with book one story line keeps you guessing throughout story. The most memorable part of story is when the escape starts.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I remember feeling sad and then happy for main characters

    Any additional comments?

A great read won't be disappointed.

    Story
"A 5* TENSE, GRIPPING & EMOTIONALLY DRAINING PNR"

Well Lindsay Pryor did it again, she kept me up til the wee small hours with this totally gripping and nail-biting second visit into the dark, dangerous and seedy world of Blackthorn to join the Vampires, Weres and other supernaturals who are all forced to live there. And that is where the innocent yet strong Leila, from the safe streets of Summerton, has been forced to venture into to save, not only her sister, but a dreaded Vampire too and that is where she met her worst nightmare..... and her heart's desire.

Handsome, sexy, Alpha Vampire Caleb is a successful Nightclub owner but he has a very dark past filled with torture, pain, unspeakable acts and degrigation.... done to him and eagerly done to others by him. Beneath his stunning good looks he is clever, ruthless, arrogant, very manipulative and an unpredictable bastard and he has just found out that Leila is more than a mere Witch, she's a Serryn and, as told in the Prophecy, one who must die at his hands..... for him and for the Vampire world.

This very well-written and described exciting story has so many twists, shocks and surprises as they both agonize over decisions that must be made.... life and death decisions that fate has thrown at them and unfortunately only one of them can survive. Tense and action-packed with passion, lust and sex but there's also a lot of turmoil and heartbreak too and a very clever 'pull your hair out' and scream "WHAT?" of a CLIFFHANGER because in this emotional book love just may not be enough.

Very well narrated by Anne Flosnik and told from both the H/H POV's with a few other character's thoughts too but the bulk of the story was between Caleb and Leila - their thoughts, words, actions and deeds.

Worth a credit? A PNR lover's dream book, very creditworthy and I've already pre-ordered book 3 which is an impressive and daunting 29 hr listen and, as much as I love Christmas, I can't wait for Dec 30th when it'll finally be released.

    "Great series"

I love this series. The characters and the political/social setting are very compelling. Great job on the audio book that picks up on the nuances.

"These people make you hate them!"

I love... I hate you... I love you but I don't trust you. I love you but I will kill you to be more powerful. There is no real growth in the characters. They are all idiots( let me trust you with the lives of my family knowing you will kill them) or masochists (make love with me before we murder each other). This is awful. I gave book two a try because the world created was unique but this is the second book of people that hate themselves and accept abuse as part of a romantic relationship.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I really, really enjoy this series. It's a good thing the story lines are so absolutely delicious. Otherwise, I found it extremely difficult to like the narrator. It took me two or three starts before I could make myself trudge through her words.
