Summary

Originally published as Little Lies.

Pirriwee Public is a beautiful little beachside primary school where children are taught that ‘sharing is caring'. So how has the annual School Trivia Night ended in full-blown riot? Sirens are wailing. People are screaming. The principal is mortified.

And one parent is dead.

Was it a murder, a tragic accident, or just good parents gone bad? As the parents at Pirriwee Public are about to discover, sometimes it’s the little lies that turn out to be the most lethal. Little Lies is a brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mothers and daughters, school-yard scandal, and the dangerous little lies we tell ourselves just to survive.

Please note: This is the same audiobook as Big Little Lies, also available from audible.com

Fascinatingly detailed insight into life

Would you consider the audio edition of Little Lies to be better than the print version?

I can't comment as I have not read the print version.

What other book might you compare Little Lies to, and why?

I have read one other book by Liane Moriarty and listened to one too so I have to compare Little Lies to these as they are all very detailed about lives of ordinary people in Australian towns.

What does Caroline Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The authentic accent and pronunciation of place names.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I always listen in three daily instalments, my journey to and from work in the car and a long dog walk, a total of about two hours per day which is enough for me as I always have another book on the go on my Kindle.

Any additional comments?

I thoroughly enjoyed this insight into life as a kindergarten parent in Australia, thank goodness my own experience was less eventful!

Kept me listening...

Where does Little Lies rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very different genre for me so difficult to rank.

What did you like best about this story?

I thoroughly enjoyed the bitchiness of the women... so true to life

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Cant tell you as would spoil for new readers.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes it made me laugh out loud at times, but it also made me have a sniffle.... a very poignant subject so sensitively portrayed.

Any additional comments?

When I started listening I really wasnt sure where this book was going to take me, but persevered past the first 30 minutes and I was hooked! Good story, very well told.

Loved it!

I wanted to listen to the book before watching the tv series. I have listened to Nine Perfect Strangers by the same author & loved this just as much, I binged it in 2 days. I cared so much about the characters, I found it very funny and heartbreaking at times, the narration was lovely, so enjoyable to listen to.

Amazing

Amazing!
I wanted to listen / read the book after having watched the TV show. The TV show, although I thoroughly enjoyed it, does not compare. The authors ability to describe complex relationships: the hardships, strengths and beauty of all different types of people was a joy to listen to. Naturally, I'm now going to download all of her book.

Different and wonderful

Full of twists and suspense throughout!

Moriarty has captured some of the real life, comical and ‘bitchy’ dramas of school mums. It’s funny, sad, though provoking and suspenseful as well as cleverly written.

I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end!

Well read interesting story

Caroline Lee reads this book excellently and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt an affinity with all of the characters especially Madeleine, who is probably my favourite. I love the twists and turns in the plot which while I sometimes predicted them I still very much enjoyed the ride. More aussie books read by Caroline Lee please!

Wonderful, addictive book

One of those wonderful stories that you can’t put down, but don’t want to end. Funny, even satirical, also cleverly structured, builds tension all the way through, with warm rich characters realistically drawn and hugely likeable. Recommend it very highly. Also very well read.

Great story

A lot of characters to be introduced to at the start, but each part unfolds so well. Such a gripping story line and important message.
