Out of the past six years of my life, I only remember about half of it. After a dozen doctors and thousands in medical bills, I was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder - one that causes me to lose track of time. Sometimes it's hours, days or even weeks with no recollection of anything. The good thing is it's been almost two years since I had my last blackout. It sounds much better than what the doctors refer to them as, episodes, like my life is a freakin' comedy.
During those two years of normal, I finally managed to get my bachelor's degree, a job I love, and I've just proposed to a woman who has been there for me through it all. For the first time in a long time everything is on track.
Until a strange woman shows up at my door - she says I'm her husband and I think she's crazy. Until, I get a voice mail on my phone. It's from a guy named Cal. The weird part is, it's the same name the strange woman called me. What terrifies me, is this guy Cal...his voice sounds just like mine.

I really enjoyed listening to this! I've read all of the books in this series already and just loved them as a whole, a big 5++ stars collectively. There are some stories that just stick with you and this was one of them for me.
Before I Break was actually my least favorite of the series back when I first read them, originally only getting 3 stars. The first time through I hadn't liked the way Chris sounded in my head, he seemed whiny and weak. Granted I'm a huge team Cal fan & their personalities are vastly different so obviously I was going to not like Chris as much, but listening to it read really helped give more depth to his emotions.
That was actually one of the main reasons that I jumped at the chance to listen to this when the chance arose. I've never listened to an audio book before, but was hoping that listening to it could change my perspective, and it did. I had hated that I didn't enjoy this book as much as the rest of the series, and having listened to it, now I do.
It was great to hear Zachary Webber narrating this, his voice was very easy to listen to, in fact I listened to it all in one sitting. He did a wonderful job portraying Chris' confusion and frustration throughout the entire book. I especially liked the scene where first meets Lauren and his mind and body struggle against each other over what to do. : )
Loved getting to hear Cal/Chris' side of things. Made me more appreciative of his (chris') struggle
In Lauren's hotel room!
He didn't know there was someone else, until he realised that someone else was him!
"Love this series but"
Why do you start books audible the other parts of the series are not so frustrating.
Well written story about a pivotal and emotional time in Chris's life! Once I started listening I didn't stop until the book was finished. Can't wait to listen to the next in the series!!
Enjoyed reading the books. I would definitely recommend getting the audible book.
Can't wait for the rest of the series
I finished this book in one session. Even after reading it, I loved hearing it.
"OMG YOU WILL NOT REGRET GETTING THIS BOOK!!!!!!"
I loved reading this book, but listening to it was an even better experience. You will not be disappointed.
When Chris met his daughter and its like he is looking at himself.
Of course Chris, but Dexter was awesome the way his voice portrayed Dex I could see him in my mind
It made me dislike Jenna lol, but I felt the emotion from Lauren and Chris. I felt bad for them.
I've read the series and I loved it I'm going to read it again . I wish all the books were on audible I would get them all. You will not be disappointed in reading this series. I admit the first book I was a little confused as to what was happening, but I was never disappointed. Thank you portia for a great series
"Unique story, compelling performance."
I would recommend this audiobook, because it is an interesting, and unique story. Zachary Webber did an amazing job narrating. I've read all of the books, more than once, and I was excited to be able to listen while I was accomplishing tasks around my house. I love to read, but sometimes I lose myself and neglect my "chores", so to speak. Listening to audio books allows me to complete said tasks, and not feel like I am being unproductive. It is a win for me. While I listen, to a good book, the household tasks don't seem like such a chore.
It was great to hear from Chris's point of view. The first book, If I Break, is told from Lauren's POV. It wasn't clear if Chris/Cal was using her. Hearing his POV we glean that he is a victim too. I felt great empthy for Lauren while I read her story. I was angry at Chris/Cal for duping her and causing her heartache. After listening to Before I Break, I was able to feel empthy for Chris/Cal.
Zachary Webber has a great voice. He sounds like I invisioned Chris/Cal to sound. I can't think of a higher compliment to a voice actor.
It is not easy to change genders during narration. Some voice actors don't pull off the character changes very well; Zachary did an amazing job.
Yes, I was asked to listen and give an honest review in a timely manner, so I did. The book is fairly short, so it was easy to listen in one sitting.
I'm excited to able to listen to If I Break. I honestly enjoyed reading this book series
Interesting story. But not interesting enough for me to purchase the other 2 books in the series. Although, if Zachary Webber were reading them I might make the effort.
Outstanding narration by ZW...
