Publisher's Summary

Greer Hennessy needs palm trees.

As a movie location scout, picture-perfect is the name of the game. But her last project literally went up in flames, and her career is on the verge of flaming out. Greer has been given one more chance, if she can find the perfect undiscovered beach hideaway for a big-budget movie. She zeroes in on a sleepy Florida panhandle town called Cypress Key. There's one motel, a marina, a long stretch of pristine beach and an old fishing pier with a community casino-which will be perfect for the film's explosive climax.

There's just one problem. Eben Thibadeaux, the town mayor, completely objects to Greer's plan. A lifelong resident of Cypress Key, Eben wants the town to be revitalized, not commercialized. After a toxic paper plant closed, the bay has only recently been reborn, and Eb has no intention of letting anybody screw with his town again. But Greer has a way of making things happen, regardless of obstacles. And Greer and Eb are way too attracted to each other for either of them to see reason.

Between an ambitious director and his entourage-including a spoiled "It Boy" lead actor-who parachute into town, a conniving local ex-socialite, and a cast of local fangirls and opportunists who catch the movie bug, nothing is going to be the same in Cypress Key. Now Greer is forced to make some hard choices: about the people and the town she's come to care about, and about her own life. True love is only for the movies, right? Can Greer find a way to be the heroine in her own life story? Told with inimitable heart and humor, Mary Kay Andrews' Beach Town is the perfect summer destination.

"Not The same Mary Kay Andrews I'm used to!"

I have read every single Mary Kay Andrew's book... This book was long and drawn out. It was quite predictable. The love interests fell for one another too fast and my opinion and they almost didn't seem right for one another/make sense together. The story was actually quite boring. Very very disappointed in this book :-( and I am a diehard MKA fan! Maybe a better one next spring?

"Not my favorite Mary Kay Andrews book."

I usually love Mary Kay Andrews books. I always look forward to reading her new ones and seeing what fun and exciting things she has in store for her characters. I felt this book was flat compared to other books she has written. I didn't laugh out loud like I do with her other books. If you enjoy Mary Kay Andrews this was a decent read. If you are not familiar with her or her writing I would probably read one of her other books first.

    Uninteresting, dull and BLAH!
Boring characters without depth or personality. Justin Bieber biography? What a let down! Just skip it.

    "Yuck!"

    This was hard to finish.
The narrator was horrible, and the story stupid.
I wish there was a way to get my money back!

    "Disappointing"

I always look forward to a new beach read by MKA. Unfortunately this was a let down. Lacked the humor and quirky characters found in her previous novels. Not worth the credit. Wait till it's on sale perhaps.

    "Nothing appealing."
What disappointed you about Beach Town?

The writing was boring with a "thread bare" plot. Not sure if that was why the narrator couldn't make any of the characters come to life, or if she didn't have the range. But it was a bad combo from the start to finish.

What was most disappointing about Mary Kay Andrews’s story?

Nothing of any interest happens to any of the characters.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kathleen McInerney’s performances?

    No, i'm done

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Frustration

    Any additional comments?

I think I'm done with MKA. The last few books have felt forced. I was hoping for a return of the writing style from her first few, but I'm out now. Not worth my cash.

    "Wonderful read! I loved it!"

I can't find anything wrong with this book but then I usually love MKA and anything she writes. So, I guess I am biased huh? This story was a little different than her other books. Not as much humor or laughter in it like the Savannah books with Weezy and BeBe Loudermilk! The book was good overall though. Worth my credit this month!

    "Another hit by MKA"

As always Beach Town has amazing and fun characters. Greer is looking for the ideal location for a movie production and comes across the town of Cypress Keys. The movie people are coming to town and causing havoc with the locals and poor Greer is trying to keep the peace, She always finds the town and its people to be like able even though some are stubborn and not wiling to accept change. Among the stubborn is Ebb who is also the mayor of the quaint town, who obviously has a love hate relationship with Greer and it's makes for a fun and intriguing story full of twists and turns, happiness and confusion and finding out what really makes you happy even though you had yourself convince you were already happy with your life. As always MKA will keep you smiling and brings you a story so well written that you could read or listen again and again
