Nico Dombruso has learned to keep the world at arm's length after being badly burned by his last relationship. Even so, he decides to let himself enjoy a summer fling while on vacation in Italy. It's just sex after all, so what's the harm?
He gets so much more than he bargained for when he meets gorgeous, mysterious art dealer Luca Caruso. The connection between them is undeniable, and for the first time in years, Nico starts to consider the possibility of trusting his tattered heart to someone again. But when a secret is revealed that shakes him to his core and threatens to tear his family apart, Nico runs, so far and so fast that no one, not even the man who was making him believe he could love again, might ever be able to reach him.

Nana has to be most annoying character ever written. I won't be bothering with more from this series as I can't bear it. She's just bed filler.
It's a shame because the story wasn't bed otherwise.
The plots in these stories get more wild as the series goes on, but at least Nico Dombruso got his own HEA, and we had a lovely trip around the Mediterranean thrown in for good measure. As for Nana, well I have to admit that the idea of a geriatric 80 year old sex bomb with a penchant for gay clubbing and pole dancing is a tad unappealing as far as I'm concerned, she's just waay OTT and at times I find her character irritating beyond belief but she adores her grandsons, and is at least extremely modern in her outlook. In most series, you have to search hard for the solitary gay person; in this one, it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack to find a straight person, hehe. Nearly every character is gay or bisexual, gets their own HEA (which is a lovely change I have to say) and finds twu wuv after an excruciatingly sweet story. Next up is Jessie's story, and that's good cos he's one of my fave characters. Mr Tremblay does a super job as per usual with the narration. 4 stars from me.
"Even better than reading it myself"
I have read all of Alexa's books and will continue to do so. This is only the second she's had made into an audio version and it's great. The story is sweet with a little angst and some tension and some sexy times.
Nana keeps me laughing with her antics. Luca and Nico are great together. Such an awesome story.
"Another fantastic Greg Tremblay narration!"
Nico is taking a much needed break from law school with his crazy Nana and ends up meeting a boy he had met years ago, Luca. Luca is everything Nico could want in a man, but he lives in Italy and Nico’s life is in California. Just when he thinks he could do anything to be with Luca, he finds out Luca is more than he’d been pretending to be.
Nico rushes back to the states to lick his wounds at what he perceives is another betrayal by a lover only to find that Luca’s family has come back to cause trouble for the Dombrusos. Nico blames Luca, but gratefully accepts his help in defusing the situation when Luca flies in to help salvage their relationship.
In the meantime we get lots of Nana antics – including a marriage proposal for her! – and more scenes with some of the other cousins/brothers/hustands.
While I thought that Luca and Nico’s relationship was a bit too “easy” – they fell in love so quickly and deeply and Luca was so OTT in his devotion that it got a bit trying sometimes – I loved this for the peeps we got into the other relationships. Seeing the Dombruso clan re-claimed by Dante and Vincent was great and watching them all band together was wonderful.
I also enjoyed the back story on the two family’s feud and how that all gets resolved. I’m hoping we’ll see more from that side of the feud in the future.
3.5 of 5 stars
Greg Tremblay, as always, was a delight to listen to. He did his best to give the Italian accents his best shot and succeeded in giving all the emotion he could pour in to the highly charged romance. I’d listen to Greg reading anything, but it’s wonderful when he’s given this huge cast of characters and he manages to give them all a distinctive voice. Kudos Greg!
5 of 5 stars
For both the story and the narration 4.25 of 5 stars.
Alexa spins great tales with lots of love, even more laughs and plenty of intrigue... The whole series is great but this Italian adventure is, as the book says, "un tesoro" (a treasure).
Such romance mixed with fun and tension and potential danger. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to be audible.
"Nana is my favorite... this book is hilarius"
I loved everything about this book. the story reeled me in. I was laughing so hard before the 1st chapter ended and the narraroter has a great range of voices.
"Romeo and Julian"
The best way to sum up this fun roller coaster of a book is to say "Romeo and Julian" two young men who are each other's 1st kiss,s in a fountain never knowing each other's names..only to be brought back
"A fun book"
Fun to read, better to listen to. I have read several, the stories are interesting and keep you drawn in, and the scenes w/ Nana are truly hysterical. Doubtful a woman of 80 could be so active, but one can hope.
I loved this story and beside the two family feud, all the killing over a stupid incident and all the lying by their earlier relatives!!! This is a good story the performance is good, but I still think Granny and her cohorts are the best. Nicky finds a new love, but the new love is part of thee "FAMILY FEUD" a somewhat all "HELL" break loose.
Nicho and Luca such a sweet. They met a fountain, that were the story beginning.
"I loved this book and ended up buying the..."
I bought the complete series, I liked so much. I also like other books by the author.
