Summary

Runner-Up, 2013 Rainbow Award for Lesbian Contemporary General Fiction

Readers everywhere fell in love with Syd, Maddie, David, Michael, Pete, and the irrepressible Roma Jean Freemantle in Ann McMan's 2011 best seller, Jericho. Now, return to the tiny mountain town in the much-anticipated sequel, Aftermath.

Over the past 18 months, Syd, Maddie, and little Henry have become a family, and things are going surprisingly well for most of Jericho's residents...if you don't count the devastating storm that whips through town. In the weeks and months to come, Syd, Maddie, and all of Jericho are forced to pick up the pieces and rebuild their homes, their lives, and their town. The task is sometimes hard, sometimes emotional, and sometimes absurd, but it is always full of smart and sassy humor and an abundance of good food and wine.

Critic reviews

" Aftermath by Ann McMan is the follow-up to her debut novel, Jericho. It manages to take all of Jericho's strengths and build on them, leaving the [listener] with a story that is often hilarious, occasionally heartrending, and entirely satisfying.... Christine Williams is back as narrator, and again, the narration is excellent. I truly can't imagine anyone else bringing these words to life in the same way." ( The Lesbian Review)

A brilliant sequel

As expected Christine Williams brings the words of Ann McMan leap full blown from the page as the 3 dimensional characters they are. I can decide if I want to go to Nadines diner, have a mango smoothie while watching love bloom or pack my bags and move to Jericho permanently. This is a whirlwind masterfully written but essentially fun times are had by characters I already loved.

funny

written again with the same indepth quality as book 1 following the lives of a local community across the classes, the loves losses doubts we all experience but this time with more humour and hope amongst the struggles, Christine Williams bilingual narration is excellent and the German translation between David and Seline had me laughing outloud, payday in 3 days I can't wait to purchase books 3&4 .

Fabulous

Loved the pacing of this follow up book. Much more relaxed storytelling. Time enough for the characters to unpeeled a little. Well done to Ann McMan, she has invented some wonderful, recognisable characters without resort to cliché. Éncore...

Great story.

This storyline just gets better and better! I love this series and the characters struggles and woes that the narrator has brought to life expertly.
I definitely recommend this.❤

Once again.

I enjoyed reading another installment of this little community in Jericho. The narration always brings the characters to life.
On to the next one.

Follow Up

This is the second in the series - the first being Jericho (one of my old time favourite books so far) ... but this lacked unpredictability & anything in the way of sex scenes.
Worth a read if you want to carry on with the series, otherwise just read the lovely & unputdownable Jericho !!
I will be trying another Anne McMahon book, as I do like her writing and would like to try more of her books.

lighthearted. warm

loved the first book and loved this as much. love the funny southern humour. just another family story that could be real. the lesbian factor is not offensive in anyway. it's only about love in our world
