Paranormal Security and Intelligence Operative Duke Marlow has a new mission: find, interrogate and possibly eliminate the target - Mercy Deluca. He knows looks can be deceiving, but it's hard to believe the beautifully quirky woman running around in a superhero t-shirt is a viable threat. The sexy little biomedical engineer quickly proves she is more than he bargained for and Intel has it all wrong - she's not the enemy. Far from it. Intel also forgot to mention one vital piece of information - she's Duke's mate. This immortal alpha werewolf doesn't take kindly to her being in danger.
When Mercy accepted a position within Donavon Dynamics Corporation, she thought it was to help cure disease and to make a difference for mankind. She had no idea what her new career path truly entailed - monsters masquerading under the guise of scientific research. Unable to stomach the atrocities she's uncovered, she reaches out through what she hopes is the proper channels, asking for help. Mercy gets more than she bargained for when a team of paranormal hotties show up on her doorstep ready to take down the Corporation. One in particular is able to get under her skin, both aggravating and exciting her in ways she can't explain.

Love these books but would like to have them all on talking book as it really brings them to life. They are so well written being full of humour as well as action, suspense and let's not forget the sexy steamy bits wow
"Love It! Humor, Action, and Romance!"
This was my first book by Mandy M. Roth's, and it exceeded my expectations! I loved everything about Act of Mercy; the characters, plot, witty dialogue, action, romance and narration. I especially liked the colorful cast of characters, and their playful bantering with each other. Duke and Mercy may have been as different as night and day, but were true mates. It was HILARIOUS when these two first met. However, I do wish the story could have been a little bit longer. Mandy did such a great job creating the characters and plot, I wanted to hear more, and was not ready for the story to end. I do plan on listening to the others in the series.
The narration was AWESOME! I've listen to Mason Lloyd narrate different types of romances and while this story may be part of his earlier performances, it "show cases" his talent. I loved how he was able to perform the wide range of characters, along with their various accents and emotions smoothly. His performance really enhanced the overall audiobook experience.
Loved this book. The story was great and the characters were well developed. The narrator brought the characters to life. Mason Lloyd is a great narrator. this was the first book that i have read in this series. I will be reading/listening to more of this series.
The Psi ops are a group of soldier that are different types of shifters/paranormal guys. This story is about Duke who is kinda of arrogant, don't like computers, flying etc. He hates most everything. Then they gone a rescue mission in Paris after receiving information about a company that is experimenting with humans, animals and shifters. One of there friends is a prisoner there and one of the scientist doctors, Merci, finds out what is going on and befriends their friend James. She is determined to save him and the others being experimented on including animals. Duke soon learns she is his mate. They both are attracted to each when he has to save her right after they got to Paris from the company she works for. They sent assassins to kill her at her apartment.
Mercy is not a pushover. She is brave and does not mind going into danger along with the "boys."
Later you find out that Mercy is more than human. She is not even aware she pixie blood in her.
I can't wait to read the stories about all the other characters especially Striker. He is funny. Loved the accent.
I recommend this book and this series.
"Mercy for Duke"
You start the story with Duke, a werewolf, who is a PSI-Op, and is typing up a report for a mission he just went out on. He hates just about everything, especially technology. While he is typing he receive a call from a woman, he doesn't know it yet but it is his mate Mercy, calling to verify that they received her information. He thinks it is a prank, acts like a jerk, and hangs up.
Mercy is a doctor, a tech- guru, and works for the Corporation. She doesn't know what she is but knows that there is a genetic abnormality with her DNA (we later find out she is part pixie). When she got hired on she did not realize how evil they were and is doing everything possible to bring them down. She will not leave until she can save James Hagan, who use to be a PSI-Op with Duke.
I love the way they interact. Duke can't help but be himself, a crabby jerk, and Mercy is very brilliant but absent minded because of all the thoughts going through her mind. You meet the PSI- Ops in this book and there is a lot of back and forth, it is hilarious. Also, the interaction between Duke and Mercy is steamy and funny. One of my favorite parts of the story is when Duke "threatens" to show Mercy his penis if she keeps staring and she tells him to go ahead and show her, not phased one bit.
The narration was great. I think Mason Lloyd did a great job as usual. I love his Scottish accent.
"A GOOD START TO A GREAT PNR SERIES"
PSI-Ops is a fast paced story about were shifters, witches, fae and other creatures that go bump in the night. This story centers around Duke, who is a centuries old werewolf that doesn't trust anyone except his team and Mercy Deluca, a uber genius who lacks social skills. Mercy is working for a company that is doing horrible testing on people, shifters and animals. She is desperate to get a message to a test subjects team members to help her free the trapped prisoners and unfortunately (or fortunately) she reaches Duke instead. The one team member that doesn't like anyone. He thinks she is nuts when Mercy first calls and doesn't realize until later that maybe she isn't as nuts as he first thought.
Duke is an alpha male to the core. He is strong, demanding, overbearing and once he realizes Mercy is his mate, he is very very protective of his woman. Mercy is a genius that doesn't know how to respond to Duke but she knows one thing for certain, she belongs to no man.
The interaction between the team members is hilarious. I like Stryker a lot. I can't wait until I read his book. The side characters make the book enjoyment and the main characters story is sweet and passionate. This books packs a lot of story into the small amount of time. The characters are well developed and the story is action packed with some hilarious moments and passionate smex scenes.
I have never heard the narrator's voice until this book and let me say yummy! I love the accent that he gave to Styker's character. Yes I would definitely look for him again.
Bottom line, yes you should listen to this book. At under eleven dollars, I would say just buy it and save the credit for something a bit more pricey. I'm hoping they put the rest of the series on audible.
"mercy on this wolf"
just wow , Duke hates anything and everything until he smells Mercy, protecting her is all he knows and seeing her hurt drives him insane , can Mercy tame this wolf?
"What a great series."
Yes I would listen again. It is easy to listen to and a quite enjoyable tale. It is written with a good dose of humour.
Mason has a voice that is easy on the ears and he is able to portray different characters through out the book very well.
I love this whole series and Mason Lloyd reads them extremely well. All the characters, from cantankerous Duke and the Scot Striker to the absent minded but brilliant Mercy, are all brought to life through Mason's talent. Most enjoyable!
"A Favorite of mine in a new format."
I love every book I've read of Mandy Roth, and I've read a number them. Duke, werewolf agent for the PSI Ops team is broody, always up for a good prank for one of the team and hot as heck! He's also one of my favorite characters. He has secretly always want to find his true mate, but after 150 years didn't figure it was happening. Just his luck--it does--and she's their target!
Mercy is a riot. She is genius scientist, has some surprise genetics herself and a heart of cotton candy--but is one ditzy bright chick. Put the two together on a mission, with his team of randy, superhuman agents who are fearless and irreverent.
Put that team with Mercy and imprisoned in a torture chamber genetics lab and James just might get rescued. One thing for sure, you won't be able to stop reading this one.
Mercy and Duke.
A paranomal history that catch you right away.
Exciting with complex people / creatures that you just can not get enough of. Has started
with Act of Surrender, which so far is a great pleasure to read / listen to.
"Great Story Awesome Reader!"
I loved this book. The characters came to life. Can't wait to read the next one.
"One of my favourite female characters"
I think that Mason Lloyd was a key factor in my enjoyment. I love the use of a male narrator in this novel. It highlights how well Roth can write the male perspective.
Mercy is one of my favourite female leads that Mandy has written, she is hilariously geeky and adorably awkward. Such an unexpected match for the grump alpha stick-in-the-mud that is Duke.
Oh I love this pair. Duke is a stubborn and disgruntled PSI Supernatural team member, those who have followed the I-Ops series will have heard of him before and be familiar with this world. This was my first book in the PSI/I-Ops/Outcasts world and while there were moments where a vague reference was made to events and past plots, there was care taken not to include anything that would spoil the other stories. I think that the enjoyment of the overarching plot of these interlinked series is much increased by reading them all in order.
For those who have not read Mandy Roth's work before, she is a fast paced and fun writer who keeps you turning the page. He books are not hard to read and usually have strong and fun female leads, Mercy is one of the best yet. I think every new book she releases gets stronger and stronger, and look forward to the next one.
I used both the kindle and audiobook editions of this, which was a seamless experience I highly recommend for anyone like me who commutes to work and also reads in the evenings.
