Publisher's Summary

In New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands' new Argeneau novel, a vampire accustomed to seducing every woman he meets finds the one determined to resist him....

With immortal good looks and scorching charisma, Justin Bricker has yet to meet a woman he can't win over. His potential life mate should be no different. But instead of falling into his bed, Holly Bosley runs away and ends up mortally wounded. To save her, he has to turn her. And then Bricker learns the shocking truth: Holly's already married.

Holly wakes up with a bump on her head, a craving for blood, and a sexy stranger who insists they belong together. She needs Bricker's help to control her new abilities even as she tries to resist his relentless seduction. Choosing between the world she knows and the eternity he offers is impossible. But Justin is fighting for his life mate - maybe even his life - and he'll break every rule to do it....

    "Took on too much"

I adore this series, but face it, breaking up a marriage is a tough topic. I admire the author's attempt to create new scenarios. My problem is twofold. SPOILER ALERT. Firstly, I think the ending was too easy. It wasn't believable. Secondly, Bricker never seems to grow beyond his fascination with life mate sex. He is just shy of a 18 year old in maturity. He means well, but still has growing to do. A man over 100 years old surely has learned the value of true intimacy. Trust the nanos? I think not for this match.

    "Different than all the rest"
Would you try another book from Lynsay Sands and/or Chris Andrew Ciulla?

I love Lynsay Sands' and read all her books. This one was one of my least favorites but still worth a listen. I am a huge fan of the Argeneau series and will listen to all of them at least once.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    Different

    Which scene was your favorite?

When they were dreaming. I just listen to that chapter over and over

    Any additional comments?

This book did not have the fun dirty vampire sex that I come to expect and now demand in my books. The characters were no fun and I expected more from Justin B.

"I'M A VERY DISAPPOINTED ARGENEAU FAN"

I've loved the Argeneau books - some have been better than others, but this one just fell flat for me. I don't know whether, after 22 books, this series has finally run it's course as it didn't seem to have the same passion/romance/humor and punch that the previous books had. After being such a likeable rogue in previous books I was hoping for so much more for Justin's story but there wasn't a deep relationship or any romance between him and Holly until the very end.... I don't think they even kissed (except in their dream sharing).

Dual POV's, the narration was ok and it could be a stand alone listen.

Worth a credit? If you're an Argeneau follower then you will probably want to get this book but I wish I hadn't bothered. It was only just creditworthy IMO.

    "Grow up, Bricker!"

If you love Sands, you will most likely be disappointed in this story. Especially if you have already fallen in love with Bricker from his role in the previous stories. Not only does he fall in love with a married woman, he never seems to think about anything but life mate sex. In-depth feelings in him are few and far between. I had really high hopes for Bricker and was so excited to see he was finally going to get his story, but it fell flat for me.

    "a good book"

this was my least favorite in the series so far. it started off too slow and didn't pick up until maybe the last 3 hours. I think this one would have been better to actually read instead of listen.

Not to the same level of drama that we are used to but I loved revisiting the old character family, kinda like coming home for the holidays.
