Publisher's Summary

Navy SEAL Boone Rudman and his friends want to create a sustainable community that can be replicated anywhere in the world. But they need land, so when Martin Fulsom, leader of the Fulsom Foundation, offers them Westfield, a ranch in Montana, they agree to Fulsom's condition that they document their progress on a reality television show.

Building the community will be hard enough, but Boone's got another problem. Fulsom expects families to make up the population of the new town. Now Boone's got to find a wife fast, before he loses his funding and his dream. So when he arrives at Westfield to find it already occupied by the startlingly beautiful, strangely attired Riley Eaton, he wonders if fate itself has provided him with an answer.

Riley Eaton is done with traffic jams and 24/7 workweeks. She loves Jane Austen's novels, and she knows she's not the only woman longing for a simpler, more beautiful life. When she discovers her friends are in the same frame of mind, she throws caution to the wind and invites them to Westfield, the ranch her uncle inherited long ago but has never lived in. Equipped with a key and a standing invitation to stay there whenever she likes, she gathers her friends, drives to Chance Creek, and gives up all things 21st century in order to open a Jane Austen-style bed-and-breakfast. She knows her absentee uncle will be thrilled with a new stream of income, and Westfield is perfect for Regency living, with its wide lawns, extensive gardens, and large ballroom. But when sexy, stubborn Boone shows up with plans to build a hyper-modern sustainable community on the ranch, it's clear her Regency paradise is over before it even began.

Now Boone has 30 days to marry Riley or lose the ranch to developers, and Riley has three weeks to prepare for the bed-and-breakfast's first guests or face bankruptcy. Can they overcome their prejudices to help each other? Or will their pride destroy both their futures?

    "Rubbish"

A real disappointment. Have really enjoyed this author in the past. This book was dull, dull, dull. Was not rooting for any of the characters at all. The person doing the voice was RUBBISH. Don't bother.

    "Enjoyable read!"

I enjoyed this audio book and had a tough time putting it down. The story and characters were great. Eric G. Dove is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators - he did a wonderful job. I really have to give this one a 4 1/2!

struggled thru 4 chapters. Ridiculous premise of women living in a Jane Austin novel and men being forced to marry and live in a reality show. The performance was as bad as the story

Cora hit it out of the park again with this book, I haven't found a book I haven't enjoyed by her. This was the first audiobook I have listened to done by Eric G Dove, I feel he did bring the book to life, you could tell her was speaking before it was said most of time. The only problem I had with this Audiobook was some words were changed, left out or added, & one of the characters name toward the end was wrong. But besides those things I really enjoyed listening to the book while I read it.

    "3.5-4 stars"

It's a good start to a new series. It's a interesting read on second chance at romance.

I like the premise of the book and the writing style of Cora Seton. She knows show to write strong Military men and the feisty women who love them. There were several laugh out loud moments throughout this book.

Riley and Boone were once friends but time and a commitment to his country tore them apart. Coincidentally, they reunite 10 years later with similar ideals, wants and needs. Despite wanting the same thing Riley put up quite a struggle in her commitment to Boone.

While I liked the book it was getting a bit repetitive. By the time this couple settled down and decided to commit 100% to each other it was the end of the book.

I was gifted an audio book for an honest review. I liked the narrator of the book. He lo ppl did a good job staying in character.

"Wonderful new series: SEALs of Chance Creek"
What did you love best about A SEAL's Oath?

Cora develops a fantastic new series set once again in the town of Chance Creek. Boone is searching for a way to create a sustainable community and Riley is looking for an Jane Austen life. Their paths cross while they are both at the Westfield mansion.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A SEAL's Oath?

The connections that Cora Seton creates between the characters are fantastic. When listening to the book you feel as if you have been transported to Chance Creek and are living in the Regency Era right along with them. She is able to hook you into the story and at the end of the story you are anxiously awaiting the next pairing of characters.

What about Eric G. Dove’s performance did you like?

I enjoyed the reading of the book. Although, I increased the reading speed to 1.25 because the standard reading seemed to have some pauses.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I always find myself smiling or laughing aloud when listening to her books.

"What a great twist to all of Chance Creek"

I could not stop listening to this book! Cora Seton really added such a great twist to all the different Chance Creek series with the new Seals of Chance Creek series! I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this particular series and see who ends up with who in each future individual book. Each character added so much personality to the book.
This book is really unlike many other books you would read, too. I mean honestly how many books do you come across where the men are trying to live in a sustainable community and the women want to live like Regency times.
My only major complaint is that it took awhile to get used to the narrator, Eric G. Dove. He did a great job narrating the book and the men's voices. However, he didn't do such a great job on the women's voices. I feel they sounded extremely boring especially at points when they maybe were trying to be sarcastic or have some type of personality. Instead it was very monotone.
Cora Seton really kept you on your toes with the main characters in this book as well. You never seemed to know what was going to happen next with Boone and Riley. I definitely recommend this book and all the other Chance Creek series book.

    "Another Wonderful Book!"
    Any additional comments?

I'm a huge fan of Cora Seaton and a big Jane Austen fan, so I was really excited to listen to this book and see what kind of story she created. I was not disappointed. I was immediately drawn into Riley and Boone's story and how they would make their two desires come together, if at all. I also found myself wanting a more "Regency Life", missing a time when things were more simple, and even starting to re-read "Pride and Prejudice" while listening to the book. I can't wait for the rest of this series to be published. I also thoroughly enjoyed listening to the narrator, Eric G. Dove, read the book. He was easy to understand, made the story easy to follow, and I hope he will be narrating the rest of the series.

"Childhood playmates return to the ranch"
What did you love best about A SEAL's Oath?

Cora creates such great characters with backgrounds that go all the way back to childhood. The world they inhabit is in keeping with her other Chance Creek series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Riley because she's someone that I can relate to. I feel like I could almost have been in her shoes at a younger age, especially when the boy she likes embarrasses her at the dance and she flees in humiliation.

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Eric does a good job of differentiating the characters, but my favourite is Boone. Eric has a clear steady voice and portrays the solid determination of the Navy Seal.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the moment where the women burn their modern clothes after donning their Jane Austen era attire.

    Any additional comments?

This is an interesting story about creating a sustainable, simple life combined with an attempt to live like women in the Regency era with a chance for childhood playmates to discover if they could be something more. Romance abounds with a lot of lust sneaking in wherever possible.

"Love the new edition to Chance Creek!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Cora's stories are always fantastic and I enjoy reading them - each and every one which comes out.
The accent and tone of the voice actor took a little bit getting used to but it easily slipped into the background and I thoroughly enjoy the story!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Riley and her friends, particularly Avery. Riley has some stubbornness which is so frustrating but enjoyable! I love Riley's passion and dedication!

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's nice to hear the male characters in his voice. He brings I nice dimension to it. However I don't really like how he does the female voices, it sounds off to me - however, understand the differential between gender of the characters.
    Overall, very enjoyable!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Loved the scene where Riley was singing and playing the piano at the Russell's house and the feeling she described and then the way Boone felt listening to her and feeling a deeper connection. I enjoyed it immensely.

    Any additional comments?

I love this story, I love the sustainability that weaves its way in and out of all her stories.
This is such a brilliant set up for the new series. Can't wait to see them all together!
Love Riley and Boone and can't get enough of them!
