Four years after she set sail from England, leaving everything she most loved behind, Maisie Dobbs at last returns, only to find herself in a dangerous place....
In Jacqueline Winspear's powerful story of political intrigue and personal tragedy, a brutal murder in the British garrison town of Gibraltar leads Maisie into a web of lies, deceit and peril.

"Wry and immensely readable." (Daily Mail)
"Maisie Dobbs has not been created - she has been discovered. And what a revelation she is!" (Alexander McCall Smith)
"I'm a huge Maisie Dobbs fan." (Lee Child)
"Jacqueline Winspear's consummate skill in writing crime stories with intricate psychological layers is proven yet again." (Historical Novels Review)
I liked the story but not how it was narrated. I've always found Maisie to be a proper lady with a strong character but this narrator, in my opinion, put her across as an intelligent and boring goody two shoes - too prissy.
