When twenty-five-year-old Lyn sets off on her cruise vacation, all she wants is to forget that her dead fiance was a cheating scumbag. What she plans is a diversion uncomplicated by romance. What she gets is Braedon, an intriguing young surgeon. He's everything her fiance wasn't, and against the backdrop of the ship's make-believe world, her emotions come alive.
Unaware of the sensitive waters he navigates, Braedon moves to take their relationship beyond friendship - on the very anniversary Lyn came on the cruise to forget. Lyn's painful memories are too powerful, and she runs off in a panic.
But it's hard to get away from someone when you're stuck on the same ship. Things are bad enough when the pair finds themselves on one of the cruise's snorkeling excursions. Then paradise turns to piracy when their party is kidnapped, and Lyn's fear of a fairy tale turns grim.

"Something different for me"
Well, I liked the story. Performance, not as much. The main character was voiced way too slow, in my opinion. It still did the job and I'll get the next book. However, that minor complaint aside, the story was really adventurous. Not contrived at any point. I'm also happy the main character wasn't some helpless woman, a damsel in distress kind of thing. Give me a strong lead to lead my ears along. A couple twists I didn't see coming kept me listening.
The character development was strong and natural. Easy to listen to in one sitting, if you have the time. ON to the next!
"Not your average romance."
This story starts out with a budding romance between Lyn and Braeden as they get to know each other on a cruise. Unaware of Lyn's emotional scars, Braeden pushes the relationship a little too fast and Lyn pulls away, sure she is better off alone--until pirates enter the picture and kidnap them all!
Imagine high stakes with pirates, storms, shipwrecks, tropical islands, monsoons, sharks, and a blizzard at a Montana ranch.
I'd say more, but it would wreck it for you. It made me smile and cry, and the ending was worth waiting for.
"Fun and Exciting!"
This story was a joy to listen to. Filled with drama, intrigue, and action this book provides many reasons to keep reading.
This book exceeded my expectations in every way. It left me with a horrible book hangover each time I had to turn it off and return to real life. Action, adventure, romance, and emotions so strong you choke and sob and then laugh along with the book. Bravo! I wish there was more about Lynn and Ell to come. They are amazing! The most realistic friendship I've read in a while.
"Touching story with three distinct acts!"
*spoilers* The writer did an excellent job of weaving a story that began with new love and unsure hearts that turned to adventure and Robinson Crusoe and finally ended with tragedy, mourning, and a celebration of love in the form of all sorts of relationships (family, friends, significant others).
I enjoyed the narrator's delivery: she had a voice that I felt matched the main character well. And her accents were brilliant and well executed--I especially enjoyed the voice she used for Maria.
All in all, it was a touching story. The writer has a good feel for characters and friendships and I enjoyed spending the hours listening to this audiobook to get to know them.

"Damn book made me cry, TWICE! (ok, it was 3 times)"
This book was really great. You hear about books that take you on a rollercoaster ride. Well, this one did.
Three separate times, I had to look at the time remaining, thinking, "This can't be the climax, it's too soon!" only to be proven right, and the story to twist, and get even better.
Several times, I was crushed, along with the heroine, but had to keep going along with her on her brave, heart wrenching journey. While you know how you want it to end, everything fights against it, in completely believable ways. A hard road to walk as a writer, but she pulls it off brilliantly!
"Full of emotional ups and downs."
This is a story full of adventure, danger, catastrophe, survival, loss and hope. Shipboard romance becomes something stronger under survival conditions on an uncharted island. Then everything changes disastrously. No spoilers here. The characters are strong and real. There is a nice continuance or re-emergence of characters throughout the story. The narration was very good and enhanced the tale. Very engaging. Heard to stop listening.
"Exciting Clean Romantic Adventure"
The narrator did a great job of distinguishing characters with her voice changes.
I laughed in a couple of spots and cried in others.
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. I thought the narrator did a fantastic job, and it was easy to tell who was speaking. At first, this felt like a sweet romance, which I don’t really like, but it soon turned to a much more exciting read. There were a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t expect, and I loved the happily-ever-after ending. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
"Cliche, but I liked it anyway"
The publisher's summary doesn't offer much concerning the plot after the cruise setting, which was an important strategy. I know I would not have selected this if I had an idea of the plot - it's been done and redone a million times. Even so, not knowing where the author was headed helped me enjoy this book much more that I otherwise would have; so, I will carefully leave out anything that might spoil the story for others.
Weaver is a competent writer, but offers little originality in either her plot or characters. Even so, the story grew on me as I listened. This is a clean (no steamy bedroom scenes), straightforward story with two sweet protagonists who have fairly normal childhood backgrounds. The female carries with her some baggage from a previous relationship, so their romance (of course) has a bumpy start. I liked the couple, but the author does not explore their emotions in great depth. I felt she could have done much more with their feelings about each other. Leaving out bedroom scenes and lustful thoughts does not have to result in a void of intimacy altogether.
The reader was average and sometimes read in slow motion - I sped up the play back. She struggled with some accents, which was distracting at times.
Overall, story lacked originality and depth, but the author's writing skills and likeable protagonists made this book work for me.
"Fun read. Great characters.Interesting locales"
I'm picky about my narrators, and I think Kruper did a wonderful job.
Any book that combines high adventure, romance, and tragedy but still manages to come off hopeful.
Jori. Loved that hint of an accent.
