Publisher's Summary

When Lady Moira Brennan leaves her home at Brennan Castle for the wilds of her own homestead claim in the Montana territory, she had no idea that a husband awaited her. Sold into marriage by her uncle, she arrives to find a bleak landscape of scarce farmers, all desperately trying to scratch out a living on their claims.

Pryor MacAteer came to Montana himself only three years ago, and his farm has prospered. All that he needs to make it complete is a wife and family, one whose passage he paid, and whose name is on the marriage contract.

Will Moira realize her dream of owning her own land and uncover the truth behind a marriage contract with her name on it?

"A feel good historical western romance"

What happens when you take a born and bred lady from her castle in Ireland and put her in Montana to make a go at homesteading? It takes a woman of steel and, equally, a man of patience, humour and incredible strength to stand by her. This is a sweet, feel good historical western romance with character. Without any of the harsh details, you still get a sense of some of the isolation and overwhelming challenges that were faced by people choosing this lifestyle at the time. And you get a sense of the challenges that Moira encountered when faced with her privileged past and the promised of an entirely different future.

Moira, the female lead, left her Home for America to protect her brother and to avoid an arranged marriage.

Next, She decides to become a landowner in Montana.

When she arrives in Montana she meets Pryor. the male lead, and he offers her a marriage contract.

    Things aren't what they "seem".

There is an underhanded scheme going on while the romance develops slowly.

Overall, this book was a quick, clean western romance.

Charles D Baker did well with the Narration.

    "Waiting On Book 2"

I found this story to be a very nice change from some of the other mail order brides books. This bride came with her own money and a very independent streak that boded well for her groom. He knew from the start that she would be good for the land and him. I loved the way the maid became her friend and no longer a servant. I can't wait for book 2 and hope that it is the maids romance. The narrator was very good although the sound editing could have been better. He made the story come alive although his laughter parts were a bit stilted.
I was gven this book via audiobook boom in exchange for an honest review.

    Any additional comments?

I liked the book. The plot was good although I wish it was longer I do feel it was bit rushed. The narrator was great. The descriptions of the settings and times were on point I felt as if I knew exactly where they were and what the setting looked like. This was a cute short love story that was a good listen.

"Potential Fun Mail Order Bride Performance"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. While the story was sweet, the narration (more the production), took away from the overall experience.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too many production glitches (creaking chair noises in the background, poor edits of cut off breaths, narrator runs out of breath or stumbles on a word). Listening to this story with earbuds amplifies the glitches and takes away from the overall listening experience.Mr. Baker obviously had fun with the various accents and voices, but he needed to reign it in a bit. (loud yelling parts, irish accent sometimes fell into more of an english accent)

    Story
    "Great beginning to a series"

Strong women always appeal to me. Moira is the perfect example of a strong woman, set out to keep her family safe and remain true to herself. In Ireland, she is royalty, and with this charge comes arranged marriages. She does not want to marry the man that is said to be her dead father's arrangement, and as a result, her brother will have to dual for her. She escapes to America to save her brother from impending doom and becomes a land owner. Little does she know, her conniving uncle, who wants all the inheritance has set a plan in motion to prevent her from her success. In strides Pryor, the man whom unbeknownst to the evilness, contracts to marry Moira. They meet and once things are realized, he teaches her all there is to know about life in Montana. Their feelings for each other grow and the whole plan results in a total backfire. Not only is there turmoil in Ireland, but In America as well! Lots of fun and emotion in this packed novel.

Charles D Baker has a wonderful banter with this book. The perfect western accent for Pryor and an amazing Irish accent for Moira, you have no problem picturing the two and their friends through the journey.

A quick western fiction, historical fiction. The female protagonist is different from most mail order brides. She is a woman of means looking for a bit of independence. Upon arriving in Montana she must prove herself loyal to the man her uncle sold her to. Lots of twists to keep the listener engaged.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Lovely accents make the reading enjoyable.
