Publisher's Summary

In his old, rambling house, failed poet Toby Dobbs has created a refuge for lost souls. But when a quiet tragedy and an unwelcome letter interrupt Toby's sedate existence, he needs his housemates to find some direction in their lives.

Leah Pilgrim has watched the tenants of the house over the road for several years, and when the owner of 31 Silversmith Road asks her for advice, he opens the door not only to the eccentric building across the street but to five lives in various stages of turmoil.

    "Gorgeous book"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Its a beautifully written, feel good read.

    Any additional comments?

The characters here are all well drawn and from about half way through, I felt I really knew them. Strangely, I even found myself waking-up one morning thinking 'I wonder how Connor is doing'! I'd liken it to the book form of a lovely duvet and a cup of cocoa. I read a lot of contempory crime fiction and this is a perfect interlude to those. It isn't frothy 'cup cake cafe' stuff. Its so much more than that, but neither is it challenging. I don't usually re-read books, but I expect to come back to this one.

"loved it, and I love Toby!"

A great story with interesting characters and very well read. I wasn't expecting to like this as its not my usual cup of tea but was absolutely hooked after a few minutes!

    Story
    "Big smile on my face"

Lovely novel which put a big smile on my face. Especially nice because the book was set in locations very familiar to me, the lovely North London
There was something comforting and familiar about this story which made me really care about the characters. Well read and good pace. A nice romance and friendship book
    I would highly recommend this.

    "Awful"

What a horror of a book, totally boring and mind numbing. I download to disk and I am struggling at disk 4 I will not be downloading or listening to part 2. enough is enough. what a waste of money. The narrator would be great at reading newspapers thats about all.The story falls far short of what I thought would be a quirky story, instead its mundane and uninteresting. I will never again have anything by this author or narrator. most of all the narrator. I am not sure this book could have been saved with a narrator with any sort of personality I personally dont think so, the drone of his voice and lack of any sort of inflection made me cringe
