Summary

This is the best known work of this Austrian writer and poet who based this tale of love, humiliation and obsession largely on his own life and gave the English language the word masochism.

A compelling well written story it has inspired and influenced many psychologists, artists, writers and musicians from Thomas Mann to the Velvet Underground and even Freud, since its first publication in 1870.

Excellent narration

Don't be put off by the amateur cover design on this - the font and the modern photo simply don't do justice to the beautiful prose by Leopold Von Sacher-Masoch and exemplary narration by Mr Praed. I had long heard of this work but kept putting it off until I found this audiobook version. I'm glad I did - it was quite a poignant tale and Praed's gentle voice and innate were perfect. Well recommended, particularly for those who are interested in erotic, doomed relationship tales.

Great story, well read

I loved this story, and the narrators voice fits perfectly. however the quality of the recording is up and down. sometimes it is barely audible, even with the volume up full.
