New York Times and USA Today best-selling author S.E. Smith presents another adventure- and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.
River Knight was looking forward to a peaceful vacation in the mountains with her two best friends, Jo and Star, sisters of the heart. When she travels up into the mountains of North Carolina to the cabin Star has rented for them, she is shocked when she finds the two sisters being abducted. Following them, she discovers their abductors are anything but human.
Sneaking aboard the shuttle in an attempt to rescue them, she finds herself on an unplanned vacation to the stars. In a desperate attempt to save Jo and Star, River makes a deal with a group of other aliens who have also been captured: she'll release them if they promise to return the three girls to their home.
Torak Ja Kel Coradon, leader of the House of Kassis and next ruler of the Kassis galaxy, has other plans when he sees the blue-eyed warrior woman - he wants her for himself.
The three women are believed to be the prophesied warriors, sent to join forces to bring peace to the House of Kassis. Worlds collide when the male-dominated world meets three circus performers who use their talents to fight for those they love. When an assassin threatens Torak's life, River has to show him even a circus performer can be a warrior when challenged. But the biggest challenge is to Torak's mind, as he discovers women from other galaxies are more than they seem.
Can their love overcome the chasm of a few million light years, or will an assassin end it all?

"Read like novice author..weak story"
This is it supposed to be a romantic with a sci-fi or alien. Not sure I understand then why it sounds so earthly.
The writing is very immature. There's no Dev and the story it sounds like a store that could've taken place on earth all of the vocabulary is the same or similar to English. The women didn't even have to acclimate themselves to a different atmosphere environment. The sole purpose of this book with about sex and Romance which is fine but I don't try to tie it all up as paranormal
"I cant get this time back"
For starters, this was the dumbest book that I've listened to so far. Ms Smith might be a good author but this wouldn't be an example of that. It was like a 10th grader wrote it, a very precocious 10th grader. It would have been a 1 star for sure if it wasn't for the naughty bits. Honestly, I was listening while waiting for a flight in the gate area of my local airport, surrounded by the good people of Michigan. The narrator began reading the first sex scene and it made me giggle and blush! Ms Smith has quite an imagination! The narrator has a pleasant voice but was a bit monotone. I think some of the racier scenes could have used a little more emotion.Well, anyhow, I was able to make it to the end but I don't think I will listen to the next one.
"I read the book first and was excited to hear it!"
Loved the book and getting to listen to it too! Samantha did almost as good of a job reading it out loud as the voice in my head did when I read it!
"Couldn't Put it Down"
I really enjoyed the story, couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read the next book!!
I really enjoyed this book. It was great to see three strong women in the lead rolls. The main reason for my lack of five stars is because of how hard the men worked to stifle their strength. By the end of the book I wanted to give the males a piece of my mind!
"Fun! Great heroines!"
I like the book so I don't consider this a bad narration, but I have to adjust my expectatives on the fly. I don't consider the audio version to be better than the kindle book because sometimes it was dificult to know what character was speaking. I think that the narrator voice is great, but couldn't cover the range of voices. All the females and all the males sound the same most of the time. Maybe make her work with a male narrator, next time?
River and Ajaska are my favorite characters. River because is a strong person and a loyal friend and Ajaska because fills the gaps left by the "macho" attitude of his sons and supports the girls; he seems to really think and make an effort for understand the position in which they are, not assuming automatically that they will adjust.
When the three girls kill the bad guys and rescue the men, leaving them behind ;) Oh, boy! I will love to see their faces at that moment! It was a difficult winner with the scene when River pins his man to the wall with his knives! That was really good too! I think more than one of us think at that point to learn how to throw knives ;)
Laugh! Many times, every time the men got all wrapped out because of the women doing ;DAnd every time that I feel like they are saying "yes, yes, dear, blah, blah, whatever, I will do as I like anyway" ;D
Hmmm... The men look "soft" somehow, not the warriors that I expect them to be... in the book also, that is not a consecuence of the performer! I think that is because they are too civilized, but that is a totally subjetive apreciation. More blood or gore or machism wouldn't do any good to this book. In the end, I think they are fine for the story. Otherwise, I think the girls wouldn't have liked them! ;) That girls don't seems to have much patience with nonsense, not at all!
I have the other two books of the saga awaiting for me just NOW! YES!!! What a weekend ;)
"Decent, but not SES best"
