The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Sylvia Day's Pride and Pleasure, a tale of ambition, love and lust. Read by the actress Imogen Church. Pursued by fortune hunters, heiress Eliza Martin is the victim of diabolical scheming to get her to the altar. She won't be bullied, however, and she will get to the bottom of this plot.
She needs a man to infiltrate her suitors and find the villain. Thief-taker Jasper Bond is entirely too devilish and too dangerous - who'd believe Eliza would be seduced by a man like him? But client satisfaction is a point of pride with Jasper and it's his pleasure to prove he's just the man - for all her needs.

This is easy listening, not a fantastic story but pleasant enough, however I much prefer to read my erotica than listening to it. Imogen Church was utterly brilliant love listening to her story telling.
Great book, great narration. This historical romance is very enjoyable. Lovely characters, great banter. Great when the leading lady is clever and a match for the gentlemen of the era in every domain.
i would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves a good twist of events , romance, and historical family values
i liked how imogen could change from 1 character to another efortlessly she has a great voice that makes listening so pleasurable .

I thought this book was fab , loved the era it was set in n all the olde worldeness ov it . The reader was fantastic could listen to her all day VERY ENGLISH . Loved jasper and Eliza relationship n the ups n downs ov it . A good read even a bit erotic 2 😀. X
After reading this book last year, I then joined Audible and discovered this book once more.
Hearing the words just added so much more to this story and I could hardly put it down; I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the words outside of my own head and I loved it!!
It took me a little while to adjust to Imogen Church's voice when she was 'Jasper' but as she has such a beautiful voice, her Eliza was perfect. Her voice became more masculine as the story went on; she did well on the other characters, especially the common voices.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable little story with a lovely touch of erotica throughout.
Another wonderful accomplished book full of unexpected twists and turns. I enjoyed this book as most written by Sylvia Day could be listening to over and over again.
Sadly this book is not for me I have never read a historical romance before and found this very boring so won't be bothering again . I am sure it's a good read if you like that sort of thing but not for me .
"The heart recognizes what the reason ignores"
Passion and love undermine the best laid plans. Eliza Martin, a self-sufficient heiress, who is avoiding forfeiting her freedom and fortune to a husband, plans to retire to the country after her sixth London season is over. Suspicious incidents make Eliza wary of her suitors, thinking someone is trying to force her into a marriage for protection. She hires a runner (London pioneering police) who doesn't take her seriously, but recommends Jasper Bond's thief-taker associate, Thomas Lynd, who cannot stand Eliza, and ends up asking Jasper to look after her security and to continue with the investigation.
Pride and Pleasure is a satisfying listen, the characters are of the most sympathetic ones I'd ever encountered, and the love scenes are fervid. The first one between Jasper and Eliza is one of the most original and passionate, seducing the virgin scene, I'd ever read. The more they learn about one another, the more their mutual admiration and love spring up. The suspenseful sub-plot makes one distrusts nearly all the secondary characters until the discovery of the wrongdoer. The book is written in a prose that belongs to the period is set, and there are plenty of witty exchanges amongst the characters. That has always been my favourite part of historical, so I fully enjoyed the beautiful and diverse usage of the English language by the author for our reading pleasure.
Imogen Church was wonderful in the delivery of the story
"Sylvia Day never disappoints"
Another great book by Sylvia Day. Her stories tranport me completely to that time and place. A wonderful tale (it must have been so hard to be an intelligent, indepedant woman during that time). Rich characters, interesting story, and sizzling romance and lust combined with the most wonderful narrator...Imogen Church is so so clever.
