Publisher's Summary

Keisha Beale, a street-wise Chicago south-sider two years out of DePaul University, is a quarter million dollars in start-up capital away from realizing her dream of owning a recording studio/record store. She takes the place of her more business-savvy partner in a meeting with Tristan White himself, the venture capitalist they've targeted to fund their business. A bi-racial, African American and Brazilian woman with a troubled past, Keisha has been so focused on her business pursuits that her love life has been non-existent. Tristan White is the devastatingly handsome, 32-year-old CEO of White Enterprises, the firm he built using only the inheritance his mother left him to prove to his father he had the mettle to do it alone. He comes from a long line of wealth, and lives the life of a "one-percenter" on Chicago's Gold Coast. Tristan is accustomed to controlling every aspect of his life given his birth into a world of white privilege.

When Keisha and Tristan's worlds collide, sparks fly, and a fever is ignited in them both that they have never experienced before. It turns out they each have secrets, but together, in the unorthodox arrangement Tristan proposes, they discover passions they never knew they had.

The Ghetto Girl title is, in all truthfulness, a misnomer. Keisha Beale is a highly-educated young woman who just happens to have been born on the other side of the socio-economic tracks. She embraces all of who she is, and navigates almost effortlessly in both worlds.

Erotic, amusing, and in places hilarious, the Ghetto Girl Romance Quadrilogy is a parody with a new take on a Fifty Shades type story that will take you even further into the BDSM word, and promises to make the vanilla original Fifty Shades more colorful.

    "Fifty Shades with a Twist!"
Where does Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was an enjoyable listen. I was a little worried in the beginning that is was just "too" similar to E L James' Fifty Shades Trilogy; but, there was a more urban twist to the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever?

Nothing really memorable. Just a fair listen!

What does Marie Hélène bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her narration kept my attention. I think if I had just read the book, I would have lost interest really quickly.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No!

    Any additional comments?

The story kind of ended abruptly. It definitely left me hanging. I am curious to see where the next installment picks up.

"I loved this... Can't wait until next one..."

Wow! This is a Ghetto Fifty Shades... for real... Stop right now...if you don't want a listen to a ghetto fifty shades.. But I have to admit this was damn near better than the original fifty. Tristan was the real deal... I bit more of a real guy, more so than Christen... and this time around it is not Christen with the issue... it Keshia Beale not Ana Steale... OMG! This was on point! See even my review has gotten all ghetto phab!

So worth the credit... There are changes from the original story all over the place but the line up is the same. If you have read/listen to the original story you would be able to point them out... and it just makes this better b/c you know how the story has changed... It was great.. I loved when Keshia knocked the rapper out... and ended up at the Tristan house... Great Great...

So worth the credit... this was done so tasteful. The smex was so much better than 50... I am impressed... Can't wait til book 2... instant download.

    Any additional comments?

I loved the Narration by Marie Hélène, It was so excellent. Unfortunately i did not enjoy the story. I just couldn't connect with the characters. I found the story was to tame in BDSM for my liking especially when the into says it will take you even further into the BDSM world than Fifty I was expecting much more. Disappointing.

"Good Sexy Start to Ther Series"

Summary: Tristan White is the devastatingly handsome, 32-year-old CEO of White Enterprises. He comes from a long line of wealth and he lives the life of a "One-Percenter" on the Gold Coast of Chicago. He is born into a world of white privilege and is used to controlling every aspect of his life. Keisha Beale is a "ghetto girl," two years out of university, who is starting a business venture, needs capital, and takes the place of her more business-savvy partner in a meeting with Tristan White himself. She's a black American woman from the south side of Chicago, with a troubled past. She has been so focused on her secular pursuits that her love life has been put on the back burner. As you can probably surmise from the title, when their worlds collide, sparks fly, and a fever is ignited in both of them that they have never felt before. It turns out that Tristan has some secrets of his own and once Keisha agrees to enter into his world, they both discover passions that they never knew they had.

Review: This story is obviously an homage to E.L. James', Fifty Shades of Gray, which I have also read. Both stories are about forbidden love. In this particular case, the taboos are their interracial romance, their class differences, and the intermingling of business with pleasure. Adding to that, Tristan introduces Keisha to the world of BDSM where the words "master" and "slave" take on a whole new meaning when a white man is weilding that kind of control over a black woman in America. This changes the whole dynamic of the story it is based on in a very insightful, humorous, and sensitive way.

I think you'll enjoy the story, no matter your race/ethnicity or gender. It's well-written and the characters are very likable. L.V. Lewis is one to watch. There are some stereotypical characters in the story, but I get the impression that the author was trying to get across that we all have preconceived notions about each other that are eliminated once we get to know the individual.
Marie Hélène was fantastic with the delivery of the story

"I'm ashamed to say I loved it!"

Ok Ok, so it is a rip off of Fifty Shades, but it's a good one, it doesn't take itself to seriously and its laugh out loud funny in places. I didn't have high hopes so I was pleasantly surprised by how well written it was, all the references to pop culture made me laugh and reminded me of the old HBO series Dream On. I will be purchasing the rest of the four part story and hope the quality and the narrator remain the same! Also they didn't make the characters sound too ethnic which I appreciate, I mean come on, educated black women don't sound ghetto.

It's a listen that gets better the longer you listen and by the time you get to the end your anxious for the next addition. Not the best BDSM listen but certainly not the worst. I will be getting the next book in the series.

    "Very Good"

Spoiler Ahead This book was picked for me to read in a pick it for me challenge and it was a really good pick. I have had this book on my kindle for about six months I really wasn't sure what to make of it, because I really liked "Fifty Shades of Grey" and I thought that the book was going to make fun of it, boy was I wrong and I am glad that I was. Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and her best friend and roommate Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with venture capitalist Tristan White. Keisha who is a singer and song writer is not really comfortable going to meeting she doesn't have the head for business like Jada who majored in it in college. Keisha is not prepared when she meets Tristan he is nothing like she thought he would be. He is young rich and sexy Tristan is also a Dom and so is his twin brother Nate who is a basketball player. This was a really good book and I liked the dialogue that was going on in Keisha's head triple G and hoochie mama. Tristan who is looking for a new sub makes Keisha an offer that she can't refuse he will give them the money to start their company if she agrees to be his sub. Although she says yes she wants love and romance and to know that the relationship is going somewhere. Both Keisha and Tristan have had difficult childhoods and both of them is not willing to share with the other. Keisha who grew up with a father that beat her and her mother. Tristan introduces her to a whole new world of kinky sex and it was hot some of the sex scenes in this book were hotter than "Fifty Shades". I also liked the fact that Jada was a sub already and she didn't share that with Keisha so she hooks up with Tristan's brother Nate. I also liked Keisha's mother she told it like it was. This was a really good book it was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling this was my first time reading this author and I am already listening to the next book in this series.

What did you like best about Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever? What did you like least?

I liked the humor the author injected into her story.
    I disliked the cliffhanger ending.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have given the end a more satisfying conclusion. cliffhangers and serials are NOT my cup of tea

Have you listened to any of Marie Hélène’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No this narrator is new to me. I really enjoyed her performance.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

only if it had an ending and wasn't needlessly broken into multiple parts.

    Any additional comments?

I really did enjoy the story but I found myself getting bored with the day to day life of the characters. I needed something to happen. The few bits of drama that were thrown in weren't enough to keep me going. I couldn't understand why Keisha just couldn't come clean about her past. Pride is not an attractive quality at times.
