Not enough. Catherine Pope has never been enough. Every man she has ever loved abandoned her - from her father to her fiancé. She finally accepted the fact she would never be enough to hold any man's heart and soul.
Then Catherine met Jackson Cole.
When her world literally collided with the sexy former Navy SEAL, everything she always believed is turned upside down and left scattered. He made her feel alive and desirable, consumed her with fierceness and loyalty - which completely unnerved her. Jackson got her in a way no one ever had, giving him the power to destroy her.
If she breaks down and gives him what's left of her battered heart - will he protect it? Or will Catherine become an irrelevant part of yet another man's life?
Will she get the one thing that has always evaded her - to finally be someone's beloved?

I enjoyed the story, the narration was also fun. Hollie (narrator) captured the emotions perfectly with her words.
Kat was a likeable character but at times she really got on my nerves. the same could be said for Jackson, at first I loved him but towards the end he started to annoy me.
And the ending? what the hell!? not happy with it at all, I hate cliffhangers LOL. I look forward to reading book 2!
I despise cliffhangers, but luckily the follow up is already available...which I am moving right along to. I've listened to Consolation and Conviction (AWESOME), which is a bit out of order, so I already have a feel for these characters, but I am enjoying hearing about Jacksons story!
"Horrible narrator, boring story"
Not sure why this book had such great reviews. I won't read the rest of the series. Maybe it would have been better if I wasn't trying to tune out the narrator. I found myself not paying attention through most of the book, either due to narrator or just because it was boring.
"The. Worst. Most. Obnoxious. Sounding Narrator. Ever"
The story is interesting, but the narrator's annoying attempt to mimic what she must think is either sexy, valley girl, or lord knows what, makes listening to this book a pain. She turned well developed female characters into caricatures. It's disrespectful to C Michaels to have such a bad author read her work.
I was only able to listen to 9 mins. before I had to turn it off. I have purchased over 30 audible books and have never had a concern about the narrator. They have always enhanced the books and made them more enjoyable. Sadly this book didn't have a chance.
the story started out decent enough but it fell quickly. the main character kept suffering from past issues that don't seem that big. the story just didn't develop correctly for you to feel sympathy for her. instead you feel annoyed about how she responds to stuff. I was done by the middle. her reactions just didn't make sense.
"A Beautiful Love Story"
This story is filled with sweetness, sadness, friendships and romance. There's just enough angst and intrigue between both wounded characters to pull you right into their world. Good read/ listen.
"It was okay. Felt like a waste for me."
The narrator. Hollie Jackson voice sounded syrupy. Too high (squilly) when she sounded excited. I am not sure if I could not connect with the heroine because I could not stand the narrators voice.
I am not sure if I would try another book by Corinne Michaels. I really did not care for the heroine in this book. I am not sure why someone as successful and attractive as Jackson would want Catherine. Catherine had way to many daddy issues and insecurities. Plus I think Catherine is 29 years old in this book, but yet she needs every thought to go through her BFF, Ashton. "I need to talk to Ashton before I do this." "I tell Ashton everything." "I need Ashton, she would know what to do." "Ashton, Ashton, Ashton." I thought Catherine was going to bring Ashton to bed with her and Jackson to dictate whether she was performing correctly.. I get the BFF thing, but at 29 and a professional...I don't think you need your BFF to help you with every thought and action. Plus, the heroine always had to bring up the cost of living and why she lives in NJ and not on the upper east side and why blah, blah, blah. WHO CARES?!?!?
I am thinking the author is probably gong to set up Jackson's BFF, Mark, with Ashton. My message to Mark: "RUN!!" She may be pretty to look at, but she uses men like that poor guy at her lab who keeps taking her out for dinner, but Ashton says she will not sleep with him.
Piper Goodeve or Natalie Ross
There is a cliffy so it obviously needs a follow-up, but I am not going to read it. I just did not connect with the characters, so I will not be wasting another credit.
I am a cliffy whore, but this cliffy did nothing for me.
I had read the book & loved it. I loved how the narrator showed so much emotion as she was reading the story.
I have 2, when Catherine falls into Jackson's lap & when Jackson gets shot.
This is the first audio book of Hollie Jackson's to hear. She did such a great job with the emotions of the story.
I hated to have to cut this book off, I wish I could have listened in 1 sitting.
"It Surprises me..."
Yes. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the emotions of Catherine to a level where I can emphatize with her. Even though the theme is not new, the author's use of imagery and diction put a new aura on the story.
When Catherine read her dad's letter to her.
"Cheated - To Be Continued???"
I CALL FOUL!!! A romance novel is not supposed to end halfway through the story. Yes it's a good story, although I find Katherine a little on the whiney side. And some of the things Jackson says and does reminds me of textbook controlling/abusive men (which I find disturbing in the hero) however he is believable as one of the good guys. I get so entirely frustrated with purchasing a book only to find there's not a happy ending conclusion. If I wanted novels like that, I would change genres. Any book that does mot complete the story I purchased should state in the description " This is book does not include the happily ever after ending". Otherwise I think I'm getting at least one full story with the option to purchase additional story beyond the happily ever after or perhaps the story of the roommate.
I don't like purchasing only half a book.
