61 Hours ended with maverick loner Jack Reacher trapped in a desperate situation from which escape seemed impossible. Even for him. But Reacher has done the impossible before.
Now there's deadly trouble in the wilds of Nebraska... and Reacher walks right into it. First he falls foul of the Duncans, a local clan that has terrified an entire county into submission. But it's the unsolved case of a missing eight-year-old girl, already decades-old, that Reacher can't let go.The Duncans want Reacher gone - or dead. And it's not just past secrets they're trying to hide. They're awaiting a secret shipment that's already late - and they have the kind of customers no one can afford to annoy. For as dangerous as the Duncans are, they're just the bottom of a criminal food chain stretching halfway around the world. Reacher - bruised and battered - should have just kept on going. But for Reacher, that was impossible.
Worth Dying For is the kind of explosive thriller only Lee Child could write and only Jack Reacher could survive - a heart-racing novel no suspense fan will want to miss.

Finally I was able to listen to the unabridged version, because you don't want to miss any details in the story. This one is a classic story about how some bad people manage to terrorize an entire town. Of course that's the kind of thing that Reacher despises. What he thinks of as a case of wife beating becomes far more sinister as the story progresses. And, of course, Reacher manges to rise to the occasion, despite his injuries from his previous adventure.
Audio books are one of my greatest pleasures. A great audio book is like great music, only for me, it's much better.
I like the Reacher books because everything is logical. I learnt at school that fiction, or possibly drama, needs the "willing suspension of disbelief". Once you accept the premises that Jack Reacher starts from, the stories become believeable. His ability to predict the behaviour of other people is only surprising because he is so male - most men do not see these patterns as women do. He is attractive to women readers because he likes women and treats them as equals. His lack of commitment prevents too much sentimentality creeping in.
I like Jeff Harding's readings. Harding observes the rhythms of the prose and gets all the voices different. It's a very professional performance.
If you have a novel featuring Jack Reacher then you should get plenty of action, and in this book you certainly do! One of my favourite Jack Reacher books, busy and action packed throughout, really enjoyed the storyline!
Another really good story, I like most of the Jack Reacher books, this one is probably one of the best to date, action packed and kept me in suspense to the end
Had read all the other Jack Reacher novels and, although the story is still excellent, I didn't like the reader. Jack sounded all wrong! Listen to the preview and then buy if he sounds like your Jack!
A usual high standard from Lee Child, not the best of his books, but still very enjoyable. Plenty of fighting which is great!
Well Jack Reacher is brill in the novel 6ft 5ins 250lbs of fighting matchine the audio book was great to listen to also great narration. what I would like to know how can a 5ft 8in 10 1/2 stone when wet actor play
this character in the first film of Lee Child 's novel. have they made it into a comerdy.
But the book is certainly well worth the read BRILLIANT.
There is an hilarious moment when Reacher is staying in the same hotel as the six hit men who have been sent to kill him. Reaches pulls no punches when either killing people or putting them in the hospital. A great book but I was surprised that Reacher ended up with a busted nose.
The pace doesn't stop getting faster
Yes....and I tried
Jeff Harding still brilliant, when you read other books you realise that Lee Child and Jeff Harding is about as good as it gets (for this type book of course)
"Another Jack Reacher classic"
I really enjoyed this book. The story was well written and Jeff Harding did a great job with the narration.
one of lee child's best. loved the narration, story great!!! totally enjoyed it.
No. Too boring.
Nothing, the narration was fine
It's an okay story but it really drags through the middle. Not as good as other Lee Child books I have read.
"Not Worth Dying For"
A plausible plot and some realistic characters might improve this novel.
It has certainly turned me off books by Lee Child.
This would be hard with a plot and characters like those found in this book.
All of the book.
"Another good Reacher"
I keep thinking that perhaps it is enough - but enjoyed the book, characters and reading so much I look to the next..
"Reacher restoring small town America (again)."
What is not to love about Jack Reacher? In the vein of our comic need for a super hero, Jack Reacher kicks all the tochas that needs kicking, somehow managing to lay to rest the cruelty of another modern day injustice. Scant regard for judice prudence and a strong regard for street justice, country bumpkin villains are sorely sorted. The obligatory, slightly confused, lass under strain, is the love interest. The underlying issues is worthy of a moral pulpit. The destruction of baddies epic. The Cathartic purge and fiction of simple and uncomplicated comeuppance mesmerising. So, what is not to love about Jack Reacher? What is not to love about Lee Child, after all he hails from Coventry!
Jack Reacher is simple, Sherlock your way to the heart of a wrong, beat, kill or punish the perpetrator, tryst the local beauty and hitchhike into the sunset. In this novel, inbred hillbillies get their but kicked. What more could one want?
Mr Harding is brilliant, dulcet drawling American accent adds to this non-American the perfect tone for Jack.
"Page turning stuff !"
Great character, brutal but sometimes touching.
Good old fashioned good guy versus lots of bad guys.
I found this book Lee Childs' best so far. Jeff does the voices so well. Kept me listening for hours.
Jack Reacher is my hero, although a little violent at times it thrilled the 'young boy' within my mind.
