"A Great Audiobook!"
This is my 6th Stone Barrington audiobook, and I find it thrilling. I listen to my audiobooks while traveling and I regret when I have to pause this book. I can't wait to get back to it.
The narrater is ok, but I think Tony Roberts does the best job with the Stone Barrington books. This is why I gave it four instead of five stars.
I don't understand the negative reviews. It confusing me as they must be very hard to please for an audiobook. If they would only mention an audiobook they thought was great, then I would have something to compare and find their review of value. Without knowing what they thought was a quality book, I can't give any credit to their review since I found this audiobook well worth the time and the money. I really enjoy listening to this story and it makes my travel time pass too quickly. This is all I hope for in an audiobook and this one more than meets the bill for me.
"A good listen"
This wasn't a great book, but a very pleasant one to listen to. The reader was excellent and the story really held my interest. I found myself looking for periods of quiet time to listen to the next chapter. So, all in all, it was worthwhile.
"Worst book realized"
I am in the second part of this book and it is like swimming in bad jello. There is a plot about a guy who gets out of prison and is getting revenge by killing all the people he feels is responsible, but you, the unlucky person who used a credit for this dreck, has to listen to how these very wealthy socialites buy fabulous houses in Connecticut and, if that is not boring enough, you also get to hear about furnishing them and about their dinner parties. Every woman alive throws themselves at the incredibly handsome protagonist and the murder mystery plot cannot advance without long descriptions of their incredible cars, lovemaking and dinners at expensive restaurants. I am on the side of the killer, I want all these people dead.
I have never read those breast heaving romantic novels of Barbara Cartland or Danielle Steele, but I suspect that is what is going on here.
Really, a bad book.
All told, the book is a combination of light reading, modest page-turner, and a yawn, especially at the end. One more formulaic whodunit detective novel. Not worth the money to buy it or the time to listen to it.
"Great, as always!"
In the style of Stone Barrington, Stuart Woods continues to develop his characters. Although a bit dated in terms of using the house phones and often inconvenienced because a phone wasn't available, this novel still reads like a great detective who-done-it.
"Stone Barrington does it again. "
Many great moments tho to me feels like a filler or connecter between better stories....guess I'll just have to keep reading. Certainly hope Richard Ferrone hangs with this series...he/his reading brings out the details & personalities.
"another great book"
Stewart woods continues to lead you through another great book. can't wait to start the next book in the series.
"Stuart Woods fan"
Story was very, very good and the reading couldn't have been better. This reader is one of the best, doesn't try to sound like a woman when a woman is speaking. Just reads it like it's supposed to be read and it does not detract from the story.
"Maybe not the worst"
I bought this book hoping that Richard Ferrone's narration could make a mediocre book enjoyable. Surprisingly he managed to do that for the first couple of hours before the sheer implausiblility of Stuart Woods' characters, plot and dialogue made things nearly unlistenable. Stuart Woods clearly has an appreciative audience. I'm just not among them.
