A bit disappointing

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I couldn't wait to read another book from this author as I find he is usually very in touch with reality. However I couldn't get into this one. There wasn't a single character I could empathise with or relate to and the story was too far fetched and contrived.

Would you be willing to try another book from Mark Edwards? Why or why not?

Yes because I have really enjoyed all his others.

What didn’t you like about Ralph Lister’s performance?

His attempt at character's voices, particularly female was comical and distracting.

Did What You Wish For inspire you to do anything?

No.

Any additional comments?

Mark - do your heroines always have to have red hair?

Another enjoyable book by Mark Edwards

This book is certainly worth reading, particularly if you haven’t read Mark Edwards before. I enjoyed this book and chose these ratings because I want to encourage other people to read this book.I enjoyed the overall story, particularly the aspect of warning against cults.

Somewhat stretched plot

Reader read quite well except for the female characters which were whiny. The story was tedious at times, and challenged credulity. Not at all up to Mark Edwards usual standard.

Could not get on with this!

Would you try another book written by Mark Edwards or narrated by Ralph Lister?

I have really enjoyed several books by Mark Edwards. It would not put me off buying others.

What could Mark Edwards have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I get that this book is not actually about Alien abduction (or I assume it isn't), but I am half way through and the focus remains upon trying to get information and that information being about the beliefs and behaviours of the 'believers'. I find I can't care any longer and will return it.

not his normal style

I'm really don't enjoy books about aliens and thought this is a bit of a letdown for Mark Edwards. really didn't have any twists at all. check out his other books so as they are not like this

Lazy attempt of an ending

Normally I love his books but this one was a disappointment, from start to end

No twists and turns, just the odd bend...

...in an otherwise straight road.
This is about Richard who falls in love with Maria, a girl who belongs to a group who believe in Aliens. Then she goes missing and he tries to find her. That's about it really. The book is not about aliens as reported by some, it's about groups of people who believe in aliens, like a cult. The story kept me interested the whole way through in a gentle kind of way, but the ending wasn't great when I got there. Another good book to listen to while you are doing something else.

bit of a slow burner to be honest

I have recently discovered Mark Edwards and have loved the tense anxious feeling I get with previous novels like Magpies follow me home etc but this novel is off on a tangent and for me weaker for it.

not as good as his other books

this is a very different type of book, nowhere near as good as his usual subject matter
also the ending just went on and on and on
until it got a bit "preachy" as well as monotonous
