The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and people are dying. Life is not always perfect in the town of Cold Hollow, but with Mayor Myrna Bradbury at the helm, it might be someday. When a batch of newly paroled convicts arrives to take up residence in the town, disappearances of longtime townsfolk begin, gruesome human remains are found, and a government inspection is looming on the horizon. Time is of the essence as Myrna and the new chief of police are thrust into an investigation the likes of which they had never imagined. Welcome to Cold Hollow, the place where the fun never ends.

It was a good book, set five months after the end of Cold Hollow. It had a good plot, but I found the pacing difficult. It felt rather slow going until about half way when it kicked into high gear.
The narration was great, but I couldn't get into the story. Sometimes if I go back to a book at a later date in a different mood I enjoy it so I will try the book again in a few weeks time.

Superb listen. One that I will read more than once. The narration was spot on. Bringing the characters and the town to life. I could feel my anger rising at the injustice and found myself willing some of the victims to find a way to freedom.
The ending I just didn't see coming. I guarantee you'll enjoy this book.

This town is full of psycho people I would be afraid to sleep or turn my back on anyone including the good doctor and the mayor. Little Liam hopefully grows up to be normal. I highly recommend this book. Hope there is a third coming soon.

I was given this book free for an honest review.
"Surprising twists that keep you guessing"
This second in the Cold Hollow Mystery series continues the story of an experimental town where most of the residents are paroles. It can be read as a stand alone story but you will get more from this multilayered tale if you read Cold Hollow first. In this story, the arrival of new parolees coincides with the disappearance of local women, who are then found dead and wrapped in silk like a spider's cocooned prey. The story moves along at a good pace and the narration in the audiobook fits the characters well, giving each individual an easily recognizable voice and distinct personality. The plot is excellent and has some great unexpected twists thrown in. I love the characters in this series, they are well developed, interesting, quirky and full of surprises, even the "good" people can be unpredictable and creepy. This is a captivating "who done it" that will keep you guessing right up to the very end. I received the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.
"Major twists and cliffhanger!"
The 2nd installment of the cold hollow series will bring back your favorite characters and introduce a few more new ones to love and hate. When you think you have it figured out, you are wrong. When you make your next I know who it is, you're wrong. The last few minutes will have a reveal that will shock you and leave you dying to dive into the 3rd book to find out just what happens next! The author and narrator are an amazing team that deliver a consistently stunning story. Love this series! I liked this book even more than the first one. I love the progression of the town and the characters. Myrna, the mayor, is funny and feisty as ever and I love the way she runs the town. The new additions to the town definitely added spice to the storyline and although the story can be somewhat outlandish, I shamelessly like it. I was gifted this book by the author for an unbiased review and it pleases me to be able to give a good one. I would love to see a third edition of these books to see what new, funny and ridiculous things are happening in the future and to see how things are going for all the characters that I can't help but like!
I received this audible edition for free for a honest review I want to read it again With the audible edition as well. I highly recommend this for true hard boiled noir fans. great intrigue.
"Weaving the web"
What a tangled web this is! Was totally blindsided by the villain!!! The blurb pretty much tells all it can and I won't add anything for fear of spoiling it. This series is getting very interesting. I can't wait to start Book 3.
"A unique story!"
Most residents of the town are ex-cons. When they’re paroled the state sends them. They are given jobs, a place to live and bank information to start their lives fresh. A town made up of criminals doesn’t seem like a real safe place and it isn’t. One of them has a penchant for wrapping women in silk thread much like a spider and killing them.
Overall this was an interesting story with a unique setting. The plot gets deeper and twists unexpectantly as the story proceeds. The characters are well developed and the story follows a steady pace. It’s not a horror story and isn’t too suspenseful but has a certain quality about it that I enjoyed. Probably the mystery. I love to piece things together in my head.
The narrator J. Scott Bennett does a fair narration giving character to the many personalities in the story.
"The ghastly inhabitants of Cold Hollow"
I was so stinking excited when I saw there was a sequel to Cold Hollow. I absolutely loved the first book and this one did not disappoint. This book wasn’t nearly as gruesome for me as the first but it still had me squirming a bit at times. The descriptions of all of the characters made it easy to be able to tell them all apart and the way the author explained the lay out of the town made me feel like I was there. I highly suggest this book but I would recommend reading the first book Cold Hollow first so you get a little more back story on some of the characters.
