Publisher's Summary

There are some friends you'll never forget...no matter how hard you try.

Before: Edie is the friend that Heather has always craved. But one night it goes terrifyingly wrong. And what started as an innocent friendship ends in two lives being destroyed.

After: Sixteen years later Edie is still rebuilding her life. But Heather isn't ready to let her forget so easily. It's no coincidence that she shows up when Edie needs her most.

Now: Edie or Heather? Heather or Edie? Someone has to pay for what happened, but who will it be?

    "Great book.."

Great story and thought the performance was excellent. The only critism is I wanted more from the ending....

    Story
"Author keeps readers fooled right up to the end"
Would you consider the audio edition of Watching Edie to be better than the print version?

Yes, the book is beautifully read by the two performers who bring the characters to life in a very real way..

Who was your favorite character and why?

The two main characters are beautifully balanced. Their existence depends on one another - the book tells the story of their relationship.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The return by Edie to the scene of her adolescent experience that is to frame the remainder of her life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a point in the book where Edie learns the value of sacrifice.

    Any additional comments?

Gritty Northern realism - great stuff!

    "Not for me ..."

When a book is quoted as being 'the best thriller you'll read this year', it's best to take that with a pinch of salt. It's ok, it's a bit of a struggle as the narrators aren't the best. Having read (listened to) so many thrillers it was pretty easy to gauge where it was going and whilst you wouldn't guess exactly, you won't be far from away. It was all just ok and yes a little bit depressing as another reviewer has said.

Hooked on crime thrillers but occasionally try something different. I never read a review without giving a positive vote. It's only fair!

Would you listen to Watching Edie again? Why?

I think I might make an exception and listen to this again in a few months, just to pick up on stuff I might have missed first time round.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oddly enough it was Heather, although the more standard choice might have been Edie, I think there's a part of Heather in all of us.

Have you listened to any of Chloe Massey and Kathryn Griffiths ’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to either and although both excellent if I had to choose the better of the two, Chloe just pips Kathryn at the post.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Forgiven but not forgotten.

    Any additional comments?

Kept me listening at every spare moment, and only deducted one star for the, in my opinion, the rather rushed ending.

"Big build up to rushed ending"

The story was so detailed in the build up but the "event" and fallout were over ridiculously quickly.

Interesting and engaging story. Very accessible. It was well performed by two talented readers. Nice few twists which I enjoy as I hate an obvious plot.

    "Very good but extremely dark"
    Any additional comments?

Very good book but extremely dark story, I don't think I would want to listening to it again, it made me feel uneasy and depressed when it finished. Great narration.
