John Dempsey, former Navy SEAL and Tier One operator, is back. Only a few months into his new life as an operative for Ember, the United States' most covert counterterrorism entity, he must stop an old nemesis who's resurfaced after ten years of operating in the shadows. From the deserts of Iraq, through the jungles of Guatemala, to the streets of suburbia, Dempsey and his Ember team race against time to stop a series of horrific and devious attacks against the homeland.
In this second installment of the Tier One series, John Dempsey faces his greatest challenge as he continues to evolve from a decorated Navy SEAL into the country's most lethal protector.

"PERFECT FIX for an action and suspense junkies!"
War Shadows is the 2nd novel in the Tier One espionage/military thriller series by Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson. Ember is the name of a super secret counter-terrorism team made up mostly of ex-Seal, ex-Delta Force, and ex-CIA operatives. The protagonist is ex-Seal Jack Dempsey. Dempsey is not his real name; he took it after supposedly being killed leaving his "widow" and now 16 year old son both of whom believe him to be dead. There are a great group of Ember characters around Dempsey; the authors do a terrific job of character development. This novel is about a planned terrorist attack by ISIS and Iran on three US cities. The leader of the attack in a Syrian terrorist who has already escaped Dempsey and his team twice. Ray Porter narrates this series superbly.
The Tier One series is great listening which I recommend highly.
"Sequel to Tier One doesn't disappoint"
The Israeli Head of Spec Ops had the right of it, "'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' is broken logic." The USA allies itself with one group against another only to have that ally turn on us a little later and kill us with our own weapons.
This is a fantastic series about great warriors. They are real and fully-rounded, and we trust them with our babies' lives. Jack Dempsey is a Seal's seal and more; he can't stop being what he is even though it has cost him the wife he loves and the son he misses more than anything. Dempsey is chasing the terrorist-who-got-away from the first book; this time there is a plan to hit several targets in the US simultaneously. One of the targets is Atlanta, where his "widowed" wife and son are now living, so Dempsey has a personal reason to stop the terrorists first.
There is lots of Special Forces action, some personality conflicts among the good guys, and some real human emotions. Great read all around. Ray Porter is outstanding.
"John Dempsey and the team are great"
I really like how John and the rest of the team actually have emotions and make mistakes. It makes the story much more real and enjoyable! Ray Porter does and outstanding job delivering this book. I picked this series because it was in my favorite area and Ray was reading.
This series in not a normal read for me. I must say Im glad I step outside the norm. I'm looking forward to the next book.
"Best storyline series I've ever read. "
keep writing! I cover many (45-50) books per year. mostly series based books on covert type military action novels. this series surpasses them all!! the detail and visualization is like a movie in your mind.
"this is a great book. The story was exciting"
The Narrator was very good and the story was compelling and relevant to the world we live in today.
"John Dempsey Tier One Spook."
We’re back with John Dempsey, newly enlisted Tier One Spook. Dempsey’s new role as an intelligence operator still has some growing pains, but he is getting more accustomed to the vast differences to his previous Seal life. Team Ember is on the trail of a highly skilled and positioned Iranian terrorist. We follow Ember as they cross paths with South American cartel training camps and through their tunnels to cross borders into the United States. We skim the surface of sleeper agents within the United States and get a glimpse of the real War on Terror we have heard talked of over the past three decades. The action is fast and furious, the sub-plots from today’s headlines. Great writing, great characters, and Ray Porter does a wonderful job narrating as he does with the Joe Ledger series. Setup for the next book; the bad guys want Dempsey something fierce. I look forward to the next book.
"Gripping & very real with superb narration!"
Probably the best fiction narrator I've encountered. The story itself, (although somewhat far fetched only due to one major coincidence near the end which I won't spoil), seemed quite authentic overall in terms of military lingo, logistics, human characterizations of both the good guys and the bad guys, interpersonal relationship development, and dialogue. The storyline is timely and thoroughly gripping. The eventual peak in the action was incredibly tense. I really loved this book and will have a hard time waiting for the next installment in the series. Highly recommended.
"fantastic book just as good as the first one"
great book As Good As the First reporter is a wonderful narrator one of the best in my opinion I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series
This series of books is great! The reader is brought into the world of a agency that doesn't exist with a great cast of characters. Jack the former Navy Seal comes to terms that his past life with his family is over but still has the job of hunting down the terrorist that took so much from him. The authors get the way military guys talk to one another and the way SF, FBI, SEAL teams operate. I can't wait for the next one.
