Summary
When you want to take power, call the SAS.
A right-wing billionaire is standing for Parliament. He enlists the help of ex-SAS soldier, Gabriel Wolfe. Gabriel left the Army after a covert mission went disastrously wrong and has sworn never to cause another man's death.
It quickly becomes clear that Sir Toby Maitland's ambitions extend far beyond a seat as an MP.
When an ex-contact in Swedish Special Forces, now working for MI5, contacts Gabriel, he realizes he has little choice but to try to stop his employer's juggernaut in its tracks.
Drugs, guns, and plastique: Gabriel finds himself embroiled in deals with Hell's Angels and a South African arms dealer in the US before the true nature of Sir Toby's plan is revealed.
This is a fast-paced thriller in the same vein as early James Bond, through Robert Ludlum's Bourne books to Lee Child's Jack Reacher series. Expect fast cars, gunplay, nail-biting suspense, and enough hardware to start a small war.
Watch out Reacher, there's a new guy in town. If you like your action hot and heavy and your heroes cool under fire, you'll love Gabriel Wolfe. But be warned, beneath the calm surface deep currents are flowing. Currents that threaten to take him under every single day of his life.

A gripping thriller
If you like Dick Francis and Lee Child, you'll love this! Andy Maslen's tense thriller is deftly brought to life by Gethyn Edwards' compelling narration.

A gripping story well written
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It's a beautifully written book, full of the kind of small details and observations that make characters and places really believable. The plot's clever and clearly very well researched. It had me hooked from the start and kept me gripped throughout. What also helped was that it was read well too, which made it a pleasure to listen to. I can't wait for the audio version of the next Gabriel Wolfe novel!
What other book might you compare Trigger Point to, and why?
It's not usually the kind of book I'd read or listen to, but I'm converted!
Which scene did you most enjoy?
As much as the action scenes are expertly written with an amazing level of detail, I really liked the softer scenes involving the girls and when Gabriel's alone with his thoughts too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. I won't give away too much away but it involved Gabriel's dog.
Any additional comments?
Definitely one to download for your hols!

No Jack Reacher
Hard work, If Reacher was like this he would shoot a himself. I felt like it was written in the 1930s and all we needed was a Batman

Cliche and obvious
I won’t bother with the rest of the Gabriel Wolf novels - should have realised that by the name of the protagonist

Audible version of a bad "Shoot em up" B movie
First book I've listened to from this author and my reaction is "Uhhhmmm"
There's bit too much detail for me, presumably used as padding to increase the word count.
I also found the narrator a bit false but he can only work with what he's given.
Story line is a bit "far fetched" for me but would probably make the base for a shoot em up movie.
Now, after being critical I'm turning hypocritical, as its the first book I will buy another at sometime in the future as I feel my taste buds need to develop towards this author.

Not bad
An easy listen with plenty of action. Not in the same league as Scott Mariani's Ben Hope series, but it's a good opener to what I'm sure will be a decent series in its own right. I do think the main character needs to be a bit tougher and a bit less gullible however!
