A good book, kept me guessing to the end

Would you consider the audio edition of The Twenty-Three to be better than the print version?

The only thing I didn't like was Jeff Hardings' American drawl, and he was even worse doing the female voices! The previous two Promise Falls books had great narrators.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked the police officer Barry Duckworth who added comedy intervals with his endless battle with cake!

What three words best describe Jeff Harding’s performance?

Annoying whining drawl

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh in places, and at times exasperated as the prime suspects kept getting killed off.

Any additional comments?

The Promise Falls trilogy needs to be read in order obviously. The last book has all the answers but it still leaves it open to further books. I really enjoyed these books.

Poor ending.

After having to wait for this the third book for an ending I found it very poor. The story was filled with lots of irrelevant content and the ending was very rushed and unfinished. Linwood has really let his readers down with this one.

Another winner for Linwood Barclay

Although I'm an avid fan of Mr Barclays books and can admit I'm a little biased but this climax to the trio of Promise Falls got me guessing right to the end plenty of twists and a possibility he hasnt finished in Promise Falls I recommend this to all thriller readers but you need to read Broken promise and Far from true first. Thanks Linwood and please hurry with next one

I'm definitely not moving to Promise Falls!

I thought Broken Promise was okay, but really enjoyed Far From True and this third and final book in the trilogy, was for me the best. I'd definitely recommend reading or listening to the other two first though. The story has several plot lines running in tandem and I like the way he uses characters from earlier books, although I haven't read all of his earlier books. I enjoyed Jeff Harding's narration, although some of his female characters can be a little whinny. I don't want to spoil the plot, but you'll be thinking twice before drinking tap water whilst you listen to this book.

awful nasal ridiculous voice narrator

I've been listening to this series and most narrators have been good but this one makes me want to launch my phone. sounds a bit like a bloody cartoon voice. really grating.

Good story

Good story, but I contemplated not finishing several times due to the Readers tone. Found him very hard to listen to

Terrible delivery of a great story.

The narrator's staccato delivery absolutely ruined this book for us. I will look out for and avoid any book narrated by Mr Harding in future.

Can't Believe I'm saying this.....

What did you like best about The Twenty-Three? What did you like least?

The best thing was that it closed off the Trilogy.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

There was a big build up that wasn't necessary due to the other 2 previous books then I felt the ending seemed rushed.

What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I have to say one of the better male narrators, tried to differentiate between the many characters and did it quite well.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Obviously.... Its Linwood Barclay... Please 1 film though not 3 ;-)

Any additional comments?

I think a lot of time was spend recapping on the 2 previous books which fine, I guess for some is handy. However I think it took time, and words, that could have been used for more detail in the final chapters. Just my opinion though. Still as always and outstanding read from Linwood. Next please ;-)
