Summary

Crowner John is summoned to investigate the murder of a tin miner. The victim worked for Devon's most powerful and successful mine owner, Walter Knapman. There seems, to be only one motive - to sabotage Walter's business. But the tinners have their own laws, and they are none too pleased at Crowner John's interference. How on earth can Crowner John sort all this out when his own life is in turmoil?

History on my doorstop!

I really enjoyed this book it’s not often I find a book that has been set in my own home town. The authors research is amazing, and has helped me learn loads!
The story was brilliant and with many twists and turns.
But one thing still remains - who DID kill the unfortunate Mr Knapman?

No spoiler

This is the first Crowner John I've listened to ( my husband loved all the books). Unfortunately not all are available as audiobooks. Very much enjoyed it (and have already purchased another) EXCEPT for one thing, which I can't mention because it would be a spoiler.

The Tinner's Corpse

I like medieval mysteries and this was horoughly enjoyable, as are all Bernard Knight's Crowner John books.

complaint

much as l love Crowner John, why on earth can l not get rid of Tinner's Corpse off my device? lt is taking up so much space that it is preventing me from downliading anything else. lt is supposingly archived but still monopolising my listening

Excellent book

This is a first rate tale narrated by an expert in West Country accents. This series paints a vivid picture of life in mediaeval England, and with expert crafting the author has created a work filled with humour and pathos that deserves to be read again and again
