Summary

The classic legal thriller and huge bestseller from master of the genre John Grisham.

David Zinc has it all: Big firm, big salary, life in the lawyer's fast lane.

Until the day he snaps and throws it all away.

Leaving the world of corporate law far behind, he talks himself into a new job with Finley & Figg. A self-styled 'boutique' firm with only two partners, Oscar Finley and Wally Figg are ambulance-chasing street lawyers who hustle nickel-and-dime cases, dreaming of landing the big win.

For all his Harvard Law Degree and five years with Chicago's top firm, Zinc has never entered a courtroom, never helped a client who really needed a lawyer, never handled a gun.

All that is about to change.

Guess what happens...

I like Grisham's work normally and like a bit of legal intrigue but I guessed what was going to happen far too early and although the words were good and reading fine I was glad to get it finished.

Just a Brilliant piece of Storytelling .. 5/5

I purchased this book, via a membership offer.
I mention this, as I'm a fan of John Grisham, but would never have properly brought it otherwise.
Therefore would have missed a beautifully patterned story, who's characters are so 3D, you feel you've met em ..
Lot's of 'black humour' and notable Grisham. Which gives you by the end of the listen, a feeling akin to opening a wonderful unknown Christmas gift ..

No-one Does It Like Grisham

What did you like most about The Litigators?

The dog eat dog world of street lawyers clashing with the high powered jet setting trial attorneys makes for a thrilling yet humourous encounter. The legal terminology is clearly spot on and comprehensible to the reader; there are moments of sentimentality but these simply add to the charm of the narrative.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Litigators?

I fell off the sofa laughing during a moment in the trial when things go terribly wrong ... to say more would give the game away.

What does Dennis Boutsikaris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

His light tone is easy on the ear and his range of different voices for each character helps the listener envisage a mental picture with great ease.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

NOT ALL LAWYERS ARE CROOKS; NOT EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Any additional comments?

Listened to this over two evenings; hooked.

Another gold star for John Grisham.

This excellent story gathers steam after the introduction of its characters, and it was hard to put down. Classic Grisham fare.

One of Grisham's best

I really loved this audiobook. It is engaging, thrilling, and quite funny at times. Although some of the themes have been covered in earlier novels i.e. The King of Torts & The Street Lawyer, The Litigators manages to be a fresh take on those issues. I cannot wait for Grisham's next book....

Back to his best!

After a few very ropey novels it’s so nice to have the old Grisham back a brilliant story that kept me listening in the car long after I had arrived home and in my drive!!!
