THE UNDERCOVER COP. Having worked undercover the last ten years, Sean Egan is used to life on the edge. He's recently infiltrated one of London's most dangerous criminal gangs, and they've just informed him that they want him for a very special job: the daring abduction from police custody of a serial killer known as The Night Creeper.
THE KILLER. Brutally violent yet highly intelligent, The Night Creeper has earned his reputation by torturing five young women to death. Arrested the previous night, he claims that he has a cast-iron alibi for one of the murders, and some highly important information that can prove his innocence - and implicates someone else.
THE POLICEWOMAN. DI Tina Boyd has an instinct for trouble, and a past that continues to haunt her. She was the policewoman who charged The Night Creeper. Now he's been kidnapped, and it's Tina's task to find him. And find him fast, because it's clear that some very dangerous people want to silence him permanently.
A man, a woman and a sadistic killer. As they race towards a terrifying confrontation only one thing is certain: they're all going to have to fight very hard just to stay alive.

Anything action packed! My fav narrator, has to be Paul Thornley, awesome!.. Fav series Roy Grace & Dan Shepherd 10/10
a realistic and dramatic book from beginning to end!
Sean, Tina..... Both brilliant mavericks
PT is by far the best narrator ever I only now read books narrated by him! :)
When Tina witnessed the wife of the MP blow her own head off! Didnt see that coming!
Just another great book from both Author and Narrator... Well done!
Simon Kernick does the same thing with all his books from what I can see. They are tightly plotted, with cartoonish baddies and protagonists who are not especially sympathetic either. The narration is top notch and the books never let go until the end.
Another fast moving novel by Simon Kernick a really great listen that has you on the edge of your seat! What I love about Simon's books is that there is always a surprise at the end. I also love Paul Thornley as a narrater so not only is the book good but he is great to listen too. Can't wait for the next one
Gripped from outset. A lot of books in this space. Frank Gardners recent novel just has the edge over this one, but not by much and that's high praise believe me. A must read.
The story is so terribly contrived it's very hard to sit through this. I presume the book only ended because the author had exhausted all possible cliches. The narration is also tiresome and, most frustratingly, the audio volume level goes up and down due the narration style. Sorry, I really did not enjoy this.
From the first sentence your hooked. Then it's one sharp bend after another. Mr. Kernick is still springing new twists until the last five minutes. Great read!
Good book not his best but still quite riveting which was emphasised by great narrative from Thornley always enjoy listening to him
TINA. FOR DETERMINATION TO GET THE JOB DONE
THE VARIOUS CHARACTER VOICES ARE OUTSTANDING
AND VERY BELEIVABLE
'The other cat!'
Tina Boyd, policewoman with an attitude.
Sean Egan. undercover officer also with an attitude.
Simon Kerinck's story, The Last 10 Seconds, interweaves their current assignments to produce a story that keeps reader interested.
The.brutal murder of a number of woman by a killer dubbed The Night Creeper, is the backdrop for this story.
Corruption, double crossing and action fill the pages.
A good Read!
Brilliantly narrated police crime drama packed with action from start to finish. Great characters. Five star narration. I did however occasionally feel distracted by the far fetched nature of some of the plot points. But, I guess that is the price you pay for a story with as much happening as this. I could not stop listening.
"Not any of Simon Kernick's best"
No dead parts in a Simon Kernick novel but I regret to mention that this one turned to be a bit boring when the main part of the story was a severely beating of the main character.
Almost as expected.
He use to do a very good job with all characters.
Yes it was.
Simon Kernick is one of my favorite authors and I look forwart to his next novel.
"Kernick & Thornley good match"
I like to listen to audible when going on long trips. This thriller was great.
Paul Thornley is talented and his many voices were well done, but he tends to drop his voice at the end of sentences and I could not always hear what the last few words were. When taping there needs to be a consistency of volume.
This is made for the movies or TV...good visualization possible with the writing and I liked the female heroine, even though so troubled and difficult. Is it possible to have a balanced, happy-ish detective solving crimes and staying on the good side of her colleagues, though perhaps not the heirarchy??
