"THREE FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!!!!!"
Ken does it again with three great stories, the first is A Place Called Freedom. An Irish man named Mac has a hard time staying a free man.. Finally he ends up in Virginia, can Mac leave the past in the past? Then the next book is The Third Twin, more like a Clancy book. Probably the worst of the three but still good. This book is about a rape case,a shut book guilty by DNA but it wasn't him? When you find out someone else has the same DNA as you and a twin its a bad day but 3,4,5,6,,!!The last book is Hammer of Eden #2 out of the 3,You have a cult group of hippies threatening to cause mass earthquakes if the government doesn't listen to their demands..But their is a FBI agent named Judy one step in front of them at all times...
Check it out not bad.
"A Good Mix"
This anthology of abridged books contained a good mix of stories, each completely different so you don’t feel like you are reading the same book 3 times.
A Place Called Freedom:
Too bad it was abridged!! I thought it was great and I would have loved the story to be filled out a little more. As it stands I felt like I just skimmed the highlights. It reminded me of how much I enjoy books like Ken Follett’s “Pillars of the Earth” and various other stories written by Jeffrey Archer. I am left wanting more.
The Third Twin:
I am not disappointed it was abridged. Sure, the story was interesting and suspenseful, but at the same time it seemed dated and I feel like I have read/seen this plot before in countless books and movies. Been there, done that. Perhaps this is the book that started the trend? I’m sure when it was first released it was a page turner, but some stories don’t hold up over time. I’m glad it was short.
The Hammer of Eden:
The plot was interesting, but so preposterous that I would not have wanted to read the full length book. In this case, the abridged version is the way to go; get right to the point.
"Canned stories, not his best"
Don't waste your time. Follett's unabridged stories are excellent. This played like the poor quality abridged stuff from my '85 Isuzu cassette player in 1993. Don't compare to his full length novels. If no other choice but dead air, then fine. Otherwise keep shopping.
"The 2nd and Third titles were boring."
He did okay, but I just wasn't interested in the subject of the third book or title
The Third title
All three were better than the story line.
"Two great stories and one ok"
Third Twin is one of my favorit books in my privat libary, and hving it on audio so I now can hear it while crealing the house is awsome!
When I first read A Place Called Freedom I was a little lukewarm towards it, but now that I've heard it I love it!
Third Twin - absolutely! you have no way of figuring it out until the end
A Place Called Freedom - althouh I kind of knew what was going to happen the wey it is written makes you eager to hear on!
Steve or his dad, they are bot so sweet. You really want him to be innocent!
I regards to the first two oh yes! The last one took some tries to get through
"Great stories ... too many pauses"
This is especially true in the first of the collection: A Place called Freedom"; however all three of these could use some editing clean up to eliminate the pause... is this a new chapter or are they going to continue reading... just felt really awkward in these good stories.
Ken Follett is a great writer and very versatile. I can't sum this up in 3 words.
Three stories all various.
All narrators were excellent.
