Washed up on the beach, she can't remember who she is. She can't even remember her name. Turns out, she has a perfect life - friends and family eager to fill in the blanks. But why are they lying to her? What don't they want her to remember? When you don't even know who you are, how do you know who to trust?

"I was immediately drawn into Mia's story from the first sentence.... The twisted, shocking end had me speechless!...I would definitely recommend The Girl from the Sea as a great summer read." (Truly, Jennifer)
I had two attempts at this story. Perhaps it was just too slow for me but I couldn't work up any interest in the character at all. Plus the voices were not very good. In fact, a doctor with an accent - possibly supposed to be eastern european ... had me gagging! Truly awful.
This is one I will return.
There didn't appear to be any empathy with the characters. Personally didn't feel she had enough range for 'voices'.
Not for me it didn't.
I am pleased that Audible has a return policy.
Spend my time cycling, reading, listening to audiobooks and music, baking and running about after 3 grown up kids, cats and chickens.
This started off promisingly enough but quite quickly became predictable. I worked out what was going to happen and couldn't be bothered listening to the end. Not a big fan of the narrator either.
"Creepy and Delicious"
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the author did a great job letting the story unfold at a good pace that builds tension, and the main character was well-drawn. I liked the author's portrayal of her memory loss, it was realistic and interesting. There were some genuinely scary moments- i don't mind saying that i wouldn't listen with the lights off! Awesome twisty ending that I didn't see coming. Highly recommend- great narration too!
"Stunning impeccable writing to its core!"
The Mystery/Suspense/Thriller that "The Girl from the Sea" throws at you is truly phenomenal. The novel opens with the girl on shore half drowned and unable to remember anything, even her own name. The various people who come forward to claim her have unusual stories of how her life really is. How will she know who she really is? What's true? What's not true? Who can she trust? She's thrown in one suspenseful thriller after another. It will keep you on your toes making you beg for more! Can anyone stand up to more extensive scrutiny then she endures? Shalini Boland draws her characters to new heights and adventure that is yet again both fascinating and intriguing to say the least. I usually don't read psychological thriller, suspense books but, this book pulled me into every twist and plot making my soul yearn for more. I will definitely read and suggest you should read anything this lady writes. It's a true talent. starts making some changes that surprise people from that life. But there’s where the similarity ends. There is a dark, foreboding menace hanging over Boland’s book that is completely absent from Moriarty’s. Different takes, both engaging.
The plot and twist just seem to come from no where with turns you'd never suspect. You will not be disappointed at all! If you like the intrigue of different and unreliability the author throws you then you'll love this. Often so many books seem to become and you can actually figure out what's going to happen. This is a problem with avid readers over time and you get sort of in a reading rut. This book gives you that freshness you need. Way to go Shalini!
Yes, I actually thought the book was so fantastic it's hard to compare because the writing skills were epic but Gemma was great. I do think that it could be little more heart felt but, it still gave you the chill factor and adrenaline pumping you are always searching for. You would not be disappointed!
Yes! I love this book! It's so immpecable it pulls you in from the start and you can't get it out of your mind! The flow of the book draws you in and you stay glued from start to finish!
The authors skills are phenomenal you will not be disappointed! It's a must read!
"Great until the end."
Loved this book but hated the way it ended. There was a great twist but the result was not for me.
"Twisted but loved every minute!"
Probably a 7
Some of the ending scenes
yeah, use a credit. You won't regret it.
This was a good book. Definitely an unexpected twist. I was pleasantly surprised. And well performed.
"Couldn't Put it Down"
Too many to write about.
See for yourself! Is she for real?
Great story, highly recommend!
I thought it was just okay? I figured out the plot half way through. The main character got on my nerves? She was just so needy and clueless. I didn't care what happened to her by the end. I don't know- I think it would have been nice to make the Mia- after the accident more like-able? I would have liked that.
"The holes in this story involve more than amnesia."
The narrator was great in that she didn't try to overdo the male voice roles. The story was thin and in most ways predictable.
the story starts in the middle of the series of events. there is unrequited love, sex, deceit, betrayal, and murder; all the ingredients for a psychological thriller. nothing is as it seems. surprise ending.
"I didn't see that coming!"
Gemma Dawson was an excellent narrator. I find I'm partial to an English accent in my audiobooks but despite this Dawson was excellent. I read this book in one day at work. The story was top notch. I didn't see this ending coming and I was trying to guess it. I would recommend this book if for no other reason then for the twist at the end. Pick a snowy weekend , stay in bed with your choice of drink and listen to The Girl From the Sea
