Ashley is a young woman broken by choices - some her own, some not. Looking to escape the haunting grip of her past, she embarks on a several-state winter road trip only to pass a sight that changes her life completely: jutting from a dirty snow bank, a small human hand holds its palm up to the sky. Driven by an uncharacteristic need for redemption, Ashley returns to investigate. There, she encounters a seemingly helpful, disturbed local man and the county sheriff. It isn't until the sheriff begins to question Ashley that the terror of her situation dawns: the body in the snow isn't a snowplow accident, but a murder victim, and by coming back to investigate, Ashley has placed herself directly in the serial killer's path. As the next 22 hours unfold, Ashley is confronted with a terrible choice: take advantage of her one chance for escape or attempt rescue of the killer's last remaining victim, possibly sacrificing herself in the process. Only by embracing the ghosts of her past will Ashley survive her descent into the disturbing madness of the freezing season.

"Nail biting thriller"
This is one of the best audible thrillers I've listened to in a long time. It was gripping from the very start and had me on the edge of my seat until the end. I was so engaged I found myself screaming at the victim with "No don't do that, don't go there." I longed for the finale but also didn't want it to end. The author did a brilliant job of developing the characters and the scene. My mind's eye could visualize every step.
At first I was annoyed by the decisions of the main character but once I understand her personality it made perfect sense.
The narration was great. Jennie Lin has a melodic voice that easily drew me into each character.
Several moments but they would be spoilers.
"Beware this book is intense"
Wow this book is really intense. The author describes every detail so that the story reveals it self almost like a movie. You hear the wonderful narration and see the story happening. At times the story got so intense that I almost turned it off but I just had to know what was going to happen next. Jeannie Lin was wonderful will look for more books narrated by her.
I enjoyed this book. It was more than a mystery it was chilling and one that I hated when I had to stop listening to do something. I did finish in 1 day! My first by the author and not my last, looking to read The Riverhouse on my kindle. I would give it a 5. . "Narrator was Great!!!"
Jeannie Lin did an awesome job at narrating the book. Her voice is clear and crisp as she takes you to the story. It almost feels like you are physically reading the book yourself.
I would love to hear more titles narrated by her.
This story hooked me from the start. It was very creepy and the author pulls you in so you feel like you are part of the story. There were several times I was telling Ashley, the main character, what to do and what not to do. This story will grab you from the beginning to the end, but beware of the creep factor!!
twisty thriller. keeps you thinking. would recommend. chilling read........... performance was easy to listen to.
Very well written, well narrated. Main character's actions were often unrealistic, but story moved at a good pace and kept my interest.
"Finally letting my breath out"
The first bit of the book, I thought I had bought a dud. Luckily I stuck with it and wow. My stomach was in my throat for the rest of the book. It was intense, creepy and just a hint of supernatural. Kept me listening!
"The Freezing Season"

I started listening to this audiobook as I started cooking our early Turkey dinner. I was hooked from the very beginning. I did not turn this off all day. I had to know what would happen next. I want to hear more from this author.
"A great book full of suspense, twists & turns"
Yes. It was a full of suspense, creepy - in the right way and had a brilliant sense of tension from the perspective of the main character and the situation in which she finds herself. It's got something for everyone in terms of murder, a bit of supernatural, horror etc. So yes I would definitely recommend it.
I'd go for Stephen King's works. You get that tense sense of a thriller mixed with horror and the desire to not turn away until you find out what happens.
I liked the narration. It set the pace really well for the story. It added a sense of tension and suspense that I really liked. Her voice narration for the children was brilliant as was her other characterisations.
It's a little dark so it made me feel a little chilly but in the right way for this type of book. I got through it in two sittings even though it's around 8 hours. So I was really drawn into the story
