Publisher's Summary

At the top of his class at Harvard Law, he had his choice of the best in America. He made a deadly mistake. When Mitch McDeere signed on with Bendini, Lambert & Locke of Memphis, he thought he and his beautiful wife, Abby, were on their way. The firm leased him a BMW, paid off his school loans, arranged a mortgage, and hired him a decorator. Mitch McDeere should have remembered what his brother Ray - doing 15 years in a Tennessee jail - already knew. You never get nothing for nothing. Now the FBI has the lowdown on Mitch's firm and needs his help. Mitch is caught between a rock and a hard place, with no choice - if he wants to live.

I bought this on a whim as I had just been listening to Steven Kings book “On Writing” where he describes The Firm as worth a reading.

OK think I, it’s on special offer at £5.99 and I could do with listening to a good thriller and that is exactly what I got. 48 hours and a couple of marathon listens and I complete the audio book.

I had to find out what happened next every step of the way. I know there are lots of clichés blah, blah, blah, but as pure entertainment it is great. Trash but good trash. There is a reason why this is one of the all-time bestselling paperbacks and I will give another of his books a try.

"A good listen but a weak ending"

I enjoy John Grishams works. I'm going over each of them in audible. I enjoyed the characters in this book and the buildup but perhaps found the ending a tad disappointing. I'd like to have seen more of Mitch on the run and surviving before the big reveal. Still 4/5 though as it kept me thinking for a while and had moments where I didn't want to stop listening. Recommended.

    "Great book -"

Keeps you thinking the whole way through. The ending could be a bit more detailed, it was built up a bit too much. Overall great!

    "Rather drawn out"

I really found this rather tedious - I made it to about chapter 29, then skipped to the end, this is something I very rarely do - I am more likely to dump a book if I am struggling. However, this did have something that retained my interest - the characters were 'OK' and the tension created by the various situations was good - but too drawn out and tedious in describing certain activities.

In the event - I wasn't very impressed by the ending either!

Epic fantasy is my main love. I find the beauty of audible though is you try things that you would not normally read.

    "Loved it"

Ok, so i got this on the 2for1 sale because i didn't know what other book to get and settled on a Classic Grisham. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

Honestly, i was engrossed in this book, finished it in 3 days ( very quick for me). Something about the central character (Mitch) that has you rooting for him all the way through. I particularly like the ending, its not a typical "happily ever after" fob off that you might expect.

There is a reason this book has sold millions of copies. Buy it, Read it, you wont regret it.
