Ready or not, here he comes.... He plays the oldest children's game in the world, hide and seek. Only the Eye Collector plays it to death. It's the same each time. A woman's body is found with a ticking stopwatch clutched in her dead hand. A distraught father must find his child before the boy suffocates - and the killer takes his left eye.
Alexander Zorbach, a washed-up cop turned journalist, has reported all three of the Eye Collector's murders. But this is different. His wallet has been found next to the corpse and now he's a suspect. The Eye Collector wants Zorbach to play.
Zorbach has exactly 45 hours, seven minutes to save a little boy's life. And the countdown has started....

The eye collector is a strange book as it starts from the end but it works very well. It follows the life of an ex cop who writes about the eye collector as a newspaper reporter and he becomes very much involved in the case in a disturbing way.It takes you in to a dark and tense word where a serial killer seems to be always one step ahead of his police. A great read that keeps you guessing which I listened too without a pause. I strongly recommend it to anyone as it is fantastic book
I got sucked in to Sebastian Fitzek from listening to the Child. I ravished my Audible credits to collect book after book.
I enjoy his style & the Eye collector is a Fitzek classic!
With his now predictable gift at ratcheting up the tension the book is a race against time to capture a serial killer with our heroes being the unlikely pairing of an ex police negotiator & a blind woman who may be more than she seems.
I always think I know exactly what's going on in Fitzeks books but the end always amazes me! I never finger the right person as the killer but enjoy trying!
I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the Child or Amok!! You won't be dissatisfied!!
Tell us about yourself!
A totally awesome read, right from the start you get thoroughly involved in the action. Its starts at the end of the book but it draws you in, A retired cops race to find the children that have been taken by the eye collector who in turn becomes the polices main suspect. A great read that will have you hooked, to the end.
Completely ridiculous! At first, I struggled to work out if the book was actually a parody, but no, it transpires that it’s actually a serious attempt at a thriller. I couldn’t decide if it was just appallingly written, or whether it just lost something crucial in translation. The only thing that was missing from the recording was Alan Partridge’s voice! The only intense aspect of the book, was wondering if the reader would stop the recording and say “sorry, had you going there didn’t I, just joking.”
Exciting, stomach churning, and hugely entertaining! Buy and enjoy but if you find yourself listening to it, wide awake at 3am, don't say you weren't warned!
loved the narrator paul shearer. loved the author, this is my second sebastien fitzek am looking for his others
really enjoyed both.
also looking for other books paul has narrated.
This was an enjoyable little thriller, several twists and turns kept the me guessing to the very end... which I might add is very bleak. However, it was almost ruined by the narrator who gave several of the characters English accents. I found that this distracted me from the story (set in Berlin by the way) and was especially annoying on the angry good cop bad cop combo and the missing boy.
Grandson of a poet and scholar, brother of some of the greatest wordsmiths on the planet - and did I mention I have composed the odd ode?
Where to start?
A blind woman makes her way down a track, having travelled on a bus, negotiated a fallen tree, in a snow storm and made herself at home in a hidden boat....
Maybe the problem is in the translation? Actually, it's just not a good story.
A real waste of time!
Can I get my credit/money back?
"This author always surprise me"
One of the top 5 at least
Nothing by other authors could compare to this one. Maybe Sebastian's other books.
Can't say it. It would be a spoiler.
The best part is at the end so just enjoy!
