Publisher's Summary

A jilted bride weeps on an empty beach, a local doctor is attacked in an isolated churchyard - trouble has come at a bad time to Morfi, just as the backwater village is making headlines with a visit from a national government minister. Fortunately, where there's trouble there's Hermes Diaktoros, the mysterious fat man whose tennis shoes are always pristine and whose investigative methods are always unorthodox.

In the latest instalment of the Mysteries of the Greek Detective, Hermes must solve a brutal crime that the victim does not seem to want solving, thwart the petty machinations of the town's ex-mayor and his cronies, and pour oil on the troubled waters of a sisters' relationship.

"3rd in series - and still excellent"

I am really enjoying this series - and - unlike so many other series I am finding the quality of storytelling remains constant. We are back to a Sean Barrett read and now he has lost the dreadful accents (see book 1 review) he is as always first class. This is a great audible book - I am just downloading book 4...

    "Great story"

Having listened to the previous story I was keen to listen to this one, given it was not available as an ebook. I really wish authors/publishers would address this deficiency. The narrator reads the story well and the story is worth listening to. I can hardly wait to listen to the rest in the series. What I don't understand is why we (I'm a Canadian) have to wait so long to listen to a book. The series has been in print for awhile; we are only now getting them in other formats.
