Loved this

This book is a prelude (prequel?) to the series and though short, it cracks along at a great pace and is a very enjoyable introduction to the characters. Sherlock comes across as a masterly, albeit not without flaws strategist and Lucy as someone who thinks quickly and creatively on her feet. There are a good amount of twists and turns and a fair amount of jeopardy which gives the story it's drive. Very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to discovering more of the series which until I've dipped into rather haphazardly.

Enjoyable prequel

Charles Veley and Anna Elliott have created a universe, set after Holmes' supposed death and where he discovers that he has a daughter by a famous concert violinist. This book is a short story which introduces the readers to Lucy James, who is unaware of her relationship to Holmes. It is mainly set in a bank which is being robbed. It is a quite fast moving story with a goodly amount of dangerous situations to prevent the interest from flagging.
The only criticism I have, also applies to the other books in the series that I have listened to, and that is the use of 'Americanisms', such as the repeated use of 'blocks' to denote distance, whilst it is understandable for Lucy to use these terms, she was raised in America, it isn't acceptable for Watson or Holmes to use them.
The narration is very well done and very pleasing to listen to.

hmmmm.... keeping an open mind

while i found this to be a good story, I struggled with the believability of the characters. Perhaps if it didn't feature Sherlock Holmes and a young woman who is undoubtedly related...
As I received this book and the first one in the series I will keep an open mind and give the next one a listen.
Especially since on their own both narrators are excellent.
