Summary
The No. 1 Sunday Times best-seller and WHSmith Book of the Year 2016
People are capable of almost anything.
Fast-paced and addictive, The Couple Next Door announces a major new talent in thriller writing.
You never know what's happening on the other side of the wall.
Your neighbour told you that she didn't want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn't stand her crying.
Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you live only next door. You'll have the baby monitor, and you'll take it in turns to go back every half hour.
Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realised. She's gone.
You've never had to call the police before. But now they're in your home, and who knows what they'll find there.
What would you be capable of when pushed past your limit?
Critic reviews
"Meticulously crafted and razor-sharp. The Couple Next Door lingers long after you turn the final page." (Harlan Coben)
"How well do we ever know those around us? The Couple Next Door will keep you glued to the pages in search of the answer. Even then, you'll never guess the truth...until it's too late." (Lisa Gardner)

Is this meant to be a joke?
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better plot, more believable characters, an ending that did not feel as if the writer had become desperate to finish it!
Has The Couple Next Door put you off other books in this genre?
Not at all!
Would you be willing to try another one of Kirsten Potter’s performances?
Almost certaintainly not.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
..Anger that something so poor could have received recommendations from publishers and reviewers.
Any additional comments?
A good idea wasted is my reaction.

A few hours I won't get back
Truly ridiculous story line. I'll be getting a refund on this book. Ludicrous story line and so many repetitive 'he says' that it drove me mad. Surely a decent author comes up with other words and ways to narrate speech between characters? Poor story. Just can't recommend

Narrator poor
Where does The Couple Next Door rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I enjoyed the book and thought the storyline very good. However I kept getting confused with the characters actual names as the narrator sometimes said "Marco" and sometimes "Margo" also "Razback" and "Razbag",I found this very offputting and it spoilt the overall listening experience for me.

I liked the twists but it was slow to start.

Has potential to be much more
I am definitely not an ace detective but this was an obvious plot line with a lot of repetition of narrative. The characters are a little too gullible for belief. I'm disappointed really but that's because it was on a lot of 'must read' lists.

Lots of Twists
Just when you think you are accusing one person another comes into the frame. Very much enjoyed how it all linked together in the end. Wasn't sure about ending.

Great story beautifully written
Love this book! I bought the audio so I could listen in the day and read the book at night. The reader ruins it, her voice is very irritating!
