Two famous English crime trials of the 1930s are captivatingly performed with ominous curiosity and detailed clarity by Edward Lustgarten.
In The Brighton Trunk Case & The Blazing Car Chase the listener has the misfortune to meet both Tony Mancini, a low-level thief accused in 1934 of murdering his prostitute lover and stuffing her in his bedroom's trunk which he then used as a coffee table, and Alfred Rouse, accused in 1930 of picking up a hitchhiker and then proceeding to burn the car with the victim still inside.
Both trials received an enormous amount of press, and the two defendants were destined to very different fates. Recommended for historical true crime fans.
The Blazing Car Case
For this famous 1931 murder, Norman Birkett was prosecuting counsel. His brilliant attack in this complicated trial has been debated ever since.

I love the style and the narrative. Cases of course were also interesting. Wish there were more of these series.
