Summary
Now a classic film, The Bourne Identity is Robert Ludlum's first exploration into the bewildering and chilling world of Jason Bourne. Exciting, fast-paced and powerfully written, you won't escape unchanged.
He was dragged from the sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues: a frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the skin of his hip; evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face; strange things he says in his delirium, which could be code words. And a number on the film negative that leads to a bank account in Zurich, four million dollars, and a name for the amnesiac: Jason Bourne. Now he is running for his life.
A man with an unknown past and an uncertain future, the target of assassins and at the heart of a deadly puzzle. He's fighting for survival and no one can help him - except the one woman who once wanted to escape him....

Brilliant
A masterpiece. Forget the film; this book is tremendous and has you on the edge of your seat. The plot of the film is vastly different to the book so if you fancy reading something familiar but unknown, this is for you. Who is Carlos? Find out

Exhilirating story. Which builds the suspense.
I read the book a few years back. The story still stays excellent. Really worth the listen.

I'm a Ludlum virgin
This my first Ludlum book, having seen all the films thought I'd give them ago. Firstly it's big, 3 down loads and obviously the films are completely different. But, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Got a bit muddled with all the characters till I got going, aside from that it was exciting, fast and gripping. Going to get the next one in the series.

Still an excellent read,

Classic espionage well narrated
Excellent narration without gimmickry sound effects. Dated but very enjoyable none the less.
Recommended for anyone interested in seeing what inspired the movies.

Wanted to give it 5stars
Narrator:- I like Scott Brick, have got acquainted with his style through other audio books.... so no complaints.
Story: am a huge fan of the movies, so if you are expecting similarities you will be disappointed . The book is vastly different. Not superior, just different...and for me...this is so refreshing, I feel I have learnt more about Bourne, what motivates him.
I have still to make my mind up as to whether he is saint or sinner, which is perfect.
I wanted to give the story 5 stars, but alas I cannot, my issue is the repetitive nature of some of the narrative, which appeared to me a 'lack of inspiration' at that given moment. This is a minor niggle, but enough of one to warrant comment.
I have already downloaded book 2 - so yes I recommend it.
'too much kindness........makes me nervous,' quote...hmmmmm!
Get lost in intrigue for a while...recommended

Got interminably boring about midway
The first half was a rollicking good read. The second half was so repetitive and dry! I got bored and gave up. It's funny, I read this book years ago and remember loving it: this time round - not so much.
