Summary

Elvis Cole. All round nice guy. Always the first man to help a stranger in distress. This time, however, he's paid the ultimate price for trying to be the good Samaritan.

Joe Pike. A fierce protector and a dangerous enemy. This time his tough-guy exterior will be tested to the limit as he risks everything to save his closest friend.

The clock is ticking now that Elvis has been Taken.

Too violent

I’m sorry I bought this book. It is full of gratuitous violence. I don’t know whether Crais was trying to make a political point about people trafficking and kidnap, but it didn’t make for pleasant reading. I felt he was grappling for a plot and unfortunately the result wasn’t very satisfactory. The first Elvis Cole book I haven’t enjoyed. Don’t buy this in the hopes you might enjoy it.

Story jumps around all over the place.

I usually enjoy hearing about Cole and Pike, but this story was very muddled, I don't know if it was done for effect, or whether it was down to poor editing. We heard that an item hidden by Pike was found by Cole..... Before we even knew that Pike had been taken. It zipped around between dates and times and was totally illogical. Not one of his best!

Reasonably engrossing

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a distraction to daily life but very remote from my experienced reality!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Although this is part of a series it does stand alone however it does contain extremes of violence that was personally challenging

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

Calm delivery and good use of tonal quality for different voices

Did Taken inspire you to do anything?

Not really

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the first book in this series which I purchased from Audible. I am not sure that this encouraged me to complete the whole series!

My favourite Cole/Pike story

An excellent story, possibly my favourite. The muddling of the time lines worked great and made it impossible to stop listening. I was desperate to see how it all tied together.
Loved it!

Good Book

enjoyed this book, however not quite as griping as some other Robert crais titles. Still listened to this one through til the end.
