George Smiley was summoned from his dubious retirement by two seemingly unconnected events - an old woman in Paris is promised the return of a daughter she will never see, and a handover is to take place on a steamer in Hamburg.

Excellent book and audio
I love John Le Carré “Smiley” character and with Michael Jayston excellent reading with a Myriad of voices it brings the book to life. Since buying this audiobook I gave listened to it every 4 or 5 weeks along with the other Smiley books (except the last one, which sadly wasn’t read my Michael).

Just fabulous
Simply superb narration by Michael Jayston, who played Peter Gwillam in the original tv adaptation. A twisting story of the good guy getting his nemesis in the end. No bad language no frills just a great book brought to life by one of the very best narrator’s of his time

A great ending for a great trilogy
Smiley's People is the third part of John LeCarre's 'Karla trilogy'. It is a great book, almost as great as the first part of the trilogy ('Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy'), with George Smiley (the most subtle & humane spy in spy fiction - and probably the greatest) taking again centre stage for the endgame of his long confrontation with his nemesis, the Soviet spy master 'Karla'. It is, once again, excellently read by Michael Jayston.

Superb
Impossible not to imagine Alec Guinness and hear the echos of his performance in this reading Brilliant and very moving . I had the great fortune to meet David Cornwell a year or so before his death , moments never to be forgotten.

As good as ever.
Another brilliant book from John le Carre and Michael Jayston. Sad that the Smiley series is not endless.
