Gripping
John Verdon is a new author for me. I think the book was a daily deal which is why I bought it but I will buy more of his - a real audio page-turner. Jeff Harding, as always, is excellent

Loved it
Equally as good as his first book! I loved everything about it, the characters, the story, the subtle humour and the narrator.
Being an avid audible listener I know how important narration is and after listening to this I’d spend a credit on anything read by Harding!
I’m a huge detective/crime fiction fan and this is up there with the best. Can’t wait to start book 3

Guessed whodunnit almost immediately
but not a bad story. Jeff Harding makes Gurney likeable enough to keep listening. Not as gripping as Book 1

Excellent hard-nosed thriller.
Another brilliant thriller by John Verdon with a fantastic voice actor in Jeff Harding. It's great to listen to a modern day gumshoe style detective so reminiscent of the wonderful world of Chandler and Hammett. I'll be looking for more books from Verdon. Hopefully, read by Harding. I will admit that l was fairly sure early on - only a hunch - that l knew the "bad guy" and aspects of the "howdunnit" but that didn't in the least detract from the story, it's pace and the brilliantly narrated denouement.

Listened to it over 3 days whilst doing diy, really kept my interest and it was well read. The reader made the characters not only believable but good to hear!
