Summary

Children disappear all the time. It's in the news every day. Where do they go? What happens to them? Who has taken them? While covering a story for his tabloid newspaper, reporter Bentley Noble accidentally stumbles onto something else entirely...a story about something so unspeakable, he doesn't know if anyone will believe it...a story that pulls him down into the depths of evil and depravity and threatens his very life. With the help of a best-selling true-crime writer, Noble descends into the dark world of human trafficking, where fear and pain are tools of control and innocence is sold to the highest bidder. As a handful of good and decent people try to combat a monstrously powerful and all too real evil, some lives will be shattered, others will be ended...but none will be the same.

Creepy

This book had me gripped from the very start. At times very hard to listen as the subject matter is heartbreaking, but this is the first book by this author I have read and I will definitely be back for more. Even though it was written in the 90s it doesn't feel dated and I love the techno aspect in the book. Also big credit to Seth Michael Donsky for narrating this so well. Fab.

good story, silly performance

The story is good, the reading, however, ist extremely silly: the speaker's imitation of people's laughter has you cringe with embarassment, and his exaggerated theatrical reading takes away quite a bit of the enjoyment.

Terrible

This is the worst book I have listened to,the narration is overacted, and the story line is sick,I only listened to the first part, but it made me phisically sick.If you care about children do not buy this book as you will be upset by its contents

Not for the faint hearted

This story, about abused children, is very graphic. If you can stomach that then be prepared to be mightily pi$$ed off with the narrator. His voices are awful and his laugh dreadful. I can’t believe whoever hired him thought him a suitable narrator.
The story is disjointed and quite frankly i gave up on it eventually.

An intriguing story that got me thinking

Shackled is a story about a parents worst nightmare
A child disappears and is taken by a group.of people traffickers.
The.story is.shocking and, hopefully unbelievable, but a good story, with a number of.characters developed through the book.

The narrator became annoying, with a strange range of accents / voices that irrate rather than add to theater. A particularly irrateing false laugh.
