Secrets of Death is the stunning new Cooper & Fry thriller from master crime writer Stephen Booth.
Set in the beautiful and atmospheric Peak District. Detective Inspector Ben Cooper and his team in Derbyshire's E Division are back to solve a puzzling new mystery.

"Booth skilfully portrays a stunning landscape with a dark heart that conceals secrets, vendettas and revenge." (Daily Mail on The Corpse Bridge)
Possibly. There are very few books that I would read or listen to more than once, but this may be one of the exceptions. The narrator brings the characters to life with perfection and has the most wonderful voice to listen to.
I always enjoy Stephen Booth books, but this is the first one I have had on audiobook, I was a bit unsure about having someone else read the book to me but I am pleased to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and listened to the whole book over a course of three days and really had to force myself to stop or I would have completed the whole book over one night. I have to say Mike Rogers is by far one of the best readers I have come across the characters are easy to recognise when he does the spoken parts which he does without forcing accents or male/female voices and still makes the whole drama come to life. I will definitely be searching for more of his work.
Familiar Riveting Suspense
I'd compare it to Corpse Bridge, because the same bridge is mentioned & Cooper & Fry still work in different cities but come together & help one another to solve this mystery thriller.
Not heard his other performances, but in this one he was really good and kept you hooked and interested. Expressive and not monotone in the least.
Fry revisits E-division & helps investigate a "suicide epidemic" stretching a wide distance.
the story line Keeps you hooked and in suspense wondering until the end,I do wish that Fry returned to Edendale's E-division permanently.
Very slow to get going and far too much padding. More like a travel guide to Derbyshire. I know the peak is beautiful but I bought this novel to enjoy the the detective mystery.
