Jack Nightingale fights his battles in the shadows - in the grey areas where the real world meets the supernatural. But when he arrives in San Francisco to take on a group of Satanists bent on opening a doorway to hell, the danger is out in the open and all too real.
The Apostles - a Satanic coven using murder and torture to pave the way for a demon to enter the real world - realise that Nightingale is on their tail and unleash their own brand of monsters to take him down.
With Nightingale's life - and his very soul - on the line, he has only days to stop The Apostles from bringing death and destruction to the entire world.

My name is Freda and I am in my 60's. I was a graphic designer, now retired. My favourite books are supernatural horror (not short stories)
I'm glad Stephen Leather has decided to keep Jack Nightingale alive. I thought 'Last Night' was going to be his last book the way it ended. This book is gripping and funny in places.Narration was good and made it easy to know which character was which. A good Supernatural read. Listened to it all in one go from getting up in the morning to early evening. Hope we are going to hear more of Jack Nightingale.
Anything action packed! My fav narrator, has to be Paul Thornley, awesome!.. Fav series Roy Grace & Dan Shepherd 10/10
Totally loved this yet another edge of your seat rough neck Jack Knightingale story!! I caught myself holding my breath on more than one occasion! Paul Thornley as always narrated out of his skin! Brilliant book!
Personally I like anything Paul Thornley narratres. I dont even care if every baddie sounds the same in every novel, or that its hard to pick which hero from which author you are listening to, Spider Sheppard, Nick Stone or Jack Nightingale, the books all romp all along and a jolly good listen. If you enjoy a bit of black magic and naughty satanists then these books make a fun change. San Francisco was a pleasant scenic change.
Another gripping tale from Stephen Leather. I strongly recommend starting at the beginning of this series as they are all excellent. Thornley is a master narrator, my favorite. Jack Nightingale is a lovable, funny, risk taking rogue who you just have to follow in his suspense filled adventures.
As I say in my headline I absolutely love this series. This story lacks none of the humour and good plain old story telling of the other 4 books. I just cannot rate Jack Nightingale stories high enough, and as I have put on all my other reviews Paul Thornley's narration just puts the cherry on the cake. Love it Love it Love it
love the Jack Nightingale books, but am unsure about his work across the Atlantic. Needs to be back in London. Still a good listen and expertly read. keeps you guessing although ending could gave been better written.
The whole series of these books are brilliant.
Crime and demons wrapped in a supernatural sandwich.
I love the way jack becomes more and more involved with the a cult in every book a bit more wiser and bit more confidant, The battle of wills with Proserpine is just hilarious.
I'd go in to more depth just it would be like explaining nuclear physics to a earth worm.
It's complicated 😜
I'll be reading other Stephen Leather books of the back of these and hope he writes other Jack Nightingale stories fingers crossed.
