New York City's streets are more dangerous than ever with the leaderless Order of Adrasteia and the Ikelos Coalition, a newly emerged Therian group, at war. Innocent civilians are caught in the crossfire and although the THIRDS round up more and more members of the Order in the hopes of keeping the volatile group from reorganizing, the members of the Coalition continue to escape and wreak havoc in the name of vigilante justice.
Worse yet, someone inside the THIRDS has been feeding the Coalition information. It's up to Destructive Delta to draw out the mole and put an end to the war before anyone else gets hurt. But to get the job done, the team will have to work through the aftereffects of the Therian Youth Center bombing. A skirmish with Coalition members leads Agent Dexter J. Daley to a shocking discovery and suddenly it becomes clear that the random violence isn't so random. There's more going on than Dex and Sloane originally believed, and their fiery partnership is put to the test. As the case takes an explosive turn, Dex and Sloane are in danger of losing more than their relationship.

The story line and the fun and suspense makes keeps you entertained. Mark Westfield brings the book to life.
Broody Bear Brodie
Mark Westfield always understands the characters but in the Thirds series he brings the character's alive.
I listen to this book in one sitting and then again the next day.
Each of these books in the series are well worth listening too over and over again.

An amazing follow up in the "Thirds books" perfect in many aspects and amazing narration by mark.
Can't wait for the final book.
"action adventure? nope, chit chat and fake gay sex"
Miss Crochet sets up a scenario where there are teams of highly trained crack troops, the best of the best and it is natural to think there will be a lot of action and combat. What do we get instead? A bunch of young guys sweetalking each other, flirtatious innuendo, M/M romance sex ( not real gay sex but a woman's idea of gay sex) and an occasional arrest of a nonconformist. Most of it reads like a girls pajama party.
"Another GREAT from Chochet & Westfield!!!"
Keep 'em coming!!!! Can't wait for book 4 on Audiobook and book 5 on ebook and audiobook!!!!! If only they can be longer!!!
"praise for Mark Westfield"
love Mark Westfield, has a voice that melts you and breaths life into the characters
"Middle book syndrome"
THIRDS team Destructive Delta is trying to gather up the remaining members of the Order of Adrasteia after the chaos and destruction left in their wake. Meanwhile, a group of Therian vigilantes known as the Ikelos Coalition is lashing out and keeping the war active between humans and therians. The team has also discovered they have a mole in their midst and are trying to uncover him/her.
I have loved this series so far. However, this one did not live up to it's predecessors. It was still good and very entertaining but it was short on 2 things that hooked me on the series. One- I was not rolling on the floor laughing for most of the book and Two- there wasn't enough action. Yes, it had humor and I did laugh a few times but it was a more serious book. There was more on the Romance front this time. I love Romance but I missed the crazy and stupid that Dex is known for. The action didn't really pick up until the end and it was just kind of rushed for me. I wanted more.
There was quite a cliffhanger and a lot is up in the air between the team members that leave me hoping the next books will bring me back to my happy place. Still enjoyable but not on scale with the first 2 books.
"sorry, still can't get over the narrator's voice "
Why would you do this to Ash and Cael. Great story otherwise. Good job writer
"Mark Westfield Rocks This Series!"
I absolutely love and adore Mark Westfield’s narration of this series! To me, it’s Westfield’s narration that makes this series shine.
Things I enjoyed about the book:
1. Getting to see the progression of the Sloane and Dex’s relationship. Finally getting to see Sloane remove his head from his ass and recognize what he has in Dex was awesome.
2. The humor. Once again, it was the humor, and in many cases with this particular story, it was only the humor that kept me from throwing my Kindle out the window.
3. The audio narration. Mark Westfield does a really good job bringing the characters and situations to life. I enjoyed his narration just as much this time, and it’s his narration that keeps me going.
Things that drove me nuts?
1. How do I keep figuring out the bad guy? I am probably the most oblivious person you will ever meet. Seriously. So I find it absolutely tragic that I have figured out who the bad guy is in each of these “mysteries” only a couple chapters in. That’s just sad.
2. Sloane, and then Ash’s, whole “I’m so broken because of tragic things in my past, so therefore you’re better off without me” bull****. I just can’t. The whole thing between Ash and Cael? I was so hoping Cael would kick Ash in the nuts. In. The. Nuts.
3. And then…and then! There’s a part that had me literally writhing on my chair with rage and disbelief – I won’t spoil it – but it had me CRAZY. Ok? CRAZY. So I found it totally implausible Dex would only tell Sloane, and not say something to Tony. Then I found it COMPLETELY impossible that Sloane would do…absolutely nothing. He barely even has a conversation about it. I cannot even. Worst soldier/cops ever.
Sloane doesn’t even follow up until the following day (or was it days?) later! And then Sloane does nothing. Sloane and Dex don’t tell the team? Putting everyone in jeopardy? What the hell?
AND THEN…the cliffhanger? The one that even I could see coming a mile away and without spoilers?
But…BUT! What can I say? This series is full of humor, action, suspense, and sexy times. Couple all of that with Mark Westfield’s narrative delivery, and I’m hooked!
Fans of the series won’t be disappointed with this installment. And I freely admit I can’t wait to get my hands on the next audio book in the series.
"Officially addicted to the series"
I have recommended this book to a friend because all of us Gen Xs love our 80s music just like Dex. Who would not want to cuddle up with a 6 ft 6 ft bad boy who can change into a shifter? The series has evolved and the humor and villains keep the story fresh. When I think I figure out Ash or Hudson, something in their past is revealed. I enjoy learning the layers of each member of group.
Assassin/Shifter series by Sandrine Gasq-Dion. It has horrible villians and funny heroes who have their own issues. The heroes are not "knights on white horses" , but they are human with weaknesses and insecurities.
My favorite moment is when Maddox walks in on Calvin and Hobbes kissing in the hospital and Dex takes the heat for "daring them to lock lips".
"I want more"
If there is one gay movie that needs to be made...it is THIRDS...no fem, no fashion, no aids...just guns, running and attraction.
"Best Audible Books , The Thirds Series"
Mark Westfield is brilliant. His understanding of the books is amazing. Love it, love it
Chaos in THIRDS land.
The Coalition has a mole from inside THIRDS and some Therian is killing humans. And if that isn’t enough, things inside THIRDS are in chaos as well.
Dex and Sloane are navigating their budding relationship. Sloane is trying to get the rest of his team to pull it together and leave personal business at home. Dex is trying to help Cael with his feelings for Ash. Letty and Rosa are … okay, they’re fine. Taylor is sexually harassing EVERYONE. The new guy Levi might be hooking up with Lou, and Dex has to plan for his pre-birthday-party-party. It’s a lot to deal with.
In this installment we get to see a lot of Sloane and Dex and most of it is really, deliciously, ooey and gooey. Sloane even purrs! (Wait til you read that part – so fantastic!) They seem solidly on the forward track until… well… Sloane runs … again. Dex inadvertently moves the relationship forward and Sloane isn’t prepared for it, so Sloane takes off for a bit, but eventually, with the help of Ash (of all Therians) figures out what a good thing he has in Dex.
The sex is super hot and Dex and Sloane as a couple are hilarious. (My favorite is the closet scene: “This isn’t what it looks like. I dropped some change, it rolled under the closet door, and when I went to pick it up, my clothes fell off. True story.”)
Ash has something going on in his life that is making him distance himself from Cael and Cael is heartbroken and making potentially fatal mistakes as a result.
When the dust settles and the bad guy (for the moment) is disposed of, we’re left with a cliff hanger. We’re going to have to wait til next YEAR to see what happens – that Charlie Cochet, she’s naughty!
Now, we can all probably guess the outcome, but in addition to the main worry, we also have to worry about Cael and Ash – will Ash ever figure things out and get it together enough to be with Cael?
And, really, what is going on with Calvin and Hobbs? Inquiring minds want to know.
Overall, this was a wonderful third installment to the THIRDS series and I really enjoyed it. There was lots of Therian shifting which I like, Sloane acting like a happy kitty, which I liked and some tricky spy stuff, which I like.
Mark Westfield narrates this entire series and I love his work. I think it’s great how he augments the sound for microphone or telephone etc and his delivery is great.
